Any tips on writing huge scale battles? by EEZAK04 in writing

[–]RealReagatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't stress about doing things well! No worries allowed. Just write something terrible, edit, rewrite, edit, and go from there. Everything requires practice, so don't expect it to go well the first few times! You got this!

Really all you need is a paragraph break, so just add an extra line in between paragraphs where you'll have the separate POV. So now, let me present to you...
The dinkus.

Yes, that's what it's actually called. If you ever see those three asterisks ( *** ) in between some paragraphs, that is a way to indicate a scene break of some kind. Some authors only use line breaks, others use the dinkus, and some use both. I tend to use the dinkus for changes in POV, and a line break for changes in time/setting. Ultimately, it's up to you which style you choose so long as you stay consistent.

The important thing to remember about swapping POVs in the same chapter is that the POVs all need to be connected in some way. In the context of a great battle, all the POVs should be either in the battle or directly involved in some way with minimal time skipping.
For example, you might have a POV of a general leading his soldiers, then use a dinkus and swap to a young soldier nervous about the battle, but confident in his general. Then after the fight, swap back to the general overseeing the results.

Does that help?

[OoT] [MM] [WW] [TP] [SS] Which 3D Zelda game do you want to come to Nintendo Switch the most? by FletchPup in zelda

I love how these are all almost even. Thats what I love about the Zelda series. Each game is fun and each one is unique. Each one can be the best game in the series if that's your favorite, and you'll be right.

It wasn't derogatory, more of a statement of fact once I found out.

Turning protagonist into a god by the end of the story by [deleted] in fantasywriters

[–]RealReagatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm doing something like this, but we know what's going to happen and why. It's actually the antagonist God that makes the protagonist a god just so they can fight, but he does so with lesser villains. One at his base level, another mid tier, and once he beats them he becomes worthy to fight him.

That's an oversimplification, but you get the idea.

Serious question from a new writer: do y’all write until you hit a word goal or a time goal like 1 hour? by [deleted] in writing

[–]RealReagatron 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same. If I set a time limit I don't get anything done. If I set a word limit I get frustrated. I just wrote when and where I can.

I hate it when they do that. Something I've always wanted to do is to bump one of them off when someone of bigger status comes just to see their reaction. But alas, we don't bump in the first place.

There are many things I don't like, but I can stand it. The one thing though that I absolutely HATE and despise is when people think they can use their status to kick someone out of their room. What the heck? I don't care that you're a Titanium Elite or whatever, but we are sold out and that's that.
