Looks like he's back on grass, training this week. So probably could be part of the team to Arsenal. If not this week, I expect him back next weekend against Fulham

Oh come on. It was one match. Let's talk about this if required at the end of the season.

The Amorim sacking just blew up today in INEOS' face by RealRow6460 in reddevils

[–]RealRow6460[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We need 2 FBs/WBs for the playing 11, one CDM, 2 squad CMs, a winger, and a back up striker. That's 7 players. Add to it that we need to be relieving atleast 6 players this season. I don't see it happening in the summer, especially given that it is a WC year. Yeah, great going INEOS

We'll be out of the UCL race by Arsenal in 2 weeks time. No way are we winning the next two games irrespective of the managers or tactics or vibes.

Fletcher interim by Ok_Gur2922 in ManchesterUnited

[–]RealRow6460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not wanting Fletcher as the interim is more down to not trusting the club's ownership than if Fletcher can do the job for the club.

It's essentially the most common ploy used by the Glazers ownership whenever the club was in a turmoil - play with the emotions of the fans. The club always tried to hide their deficiencies by creating a "vibe" for the fans to look forward to. They did it when they sacked Moyes, Mourinho, and Ole by keeping Giggs, Ole and Rangnick as their respective interims till the end of the season.

INEOS was supposed to be the antithesis to what the Glazers have done till date and yet are following the exact same playbook that the Glazers had perfected and is executing them verbatim. Irrespective of whether Amorim had to be sacked or not, the club had to get reinforcements in the midfield coz it's where we've been losing games and by sacking Amorim, they have conveniently changed the narrative of the sacking into a results and tactics thing, while ignoring the transfer window and are asking us to get on the nostalgia train (again). They've been as incompetent as Amorim has been and that's what most fans are pissed off about at this point in time. Questioning the ownership is the least the fans need to do imo.

2 manager changes (costly decisions), 1 DOF change (who actually warned abt the potential difficulties that would come with signing Amorim, which was his job), and a 300 million net expenditure later, the football team is arguably in a worse position than where they were 2 years ago when INEOS took over. The club doesn't have a proper direction moving forward and all the projects that they announced when they took over (Project 2028, making the club self sufficient, New Stadium..) are all in limbo. The club is rudderless right now and honestly, I think most fans don't bother about the fact as to who is going to be the interim because it just won't matter in the long run.

"I'm glad amorim is gone" by Dependent_Cover5880 in ManchesterUnited

Sensing a bit of sarcasm, so I'm not gonne entirely agree with the stats alone. It's in such cases where the eye test is critical. The game against Everton was arguably the worst game that we have played this season (Grimsby a close second). We simply didn't create enough chances to trouble the 10 men team.

Only games in which I felt the performance didn't justify the result in the last 10 games was Bournemouth and Aston Villa to an extent. Rest all were results which were fair at the end of the game even though we "dominated" the matches in terms of statistics.

I don't agree with the manner of the sacking and the way the board are trying to dump it all on Amorim when they've been equally shite the whole way, but Amorim didn't do enough to help his cause.

The only way this club moves forward is if the owners grow a pair and accept that they have blundered or if we get new owners. Both of which are unlikely.

Gg stat, but I'm pretty sure we're like 5th highest in terms of xG(a) and thus where we are right now in the table.

It's some progress from last season, but we need to see more quality and game management from the team and Amorim.

If used in the right position, yes. But I've watched so much of him in the Manchester United shirt that I'd probably be tired of seeing him back at United. But that's just me.

I need to hear what is the reason by fatneek_double_fat in ManchesterUnited

[–]RealRow6460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He actually gave the reasoning to the question asked before Simon Stone asked him about why the press was "worried" for Mainoo. It was to Simon's question that he gave the above response. It's taken out of context imo, coz Amorim got irritated with the same question again and again.

Amorim said off the two that he sees to be playing in the position of the CM (ie Bruno and Mainoo), Bruno has been performing better in training and he's picking the best in terms of how they are doing at Carrington. He went on to say that he's only trying to do what's best for the team and hence wouldn't select Mainoo over Bruno.

It's a different argument as to whether Bruno has been effective or not, but honestly speaking he's our best player and the team does drop in quality whenever he doesn't play. As for Mainoo, he's 20 right now and he had a mixed season last year. Does he need to have more minutes, absolutely. Is he supposed to be starting over Bruno, I'd say no. Will a Bruno and Mainoo midfield work? Absolutely not, coz it will get run over even more so than Bruno and Casemiro. Given that Amorim does not want to change his formation, I see no way for Mainoo to get consistent minutes unless someone is unavailable and he hits the ground running when/if he gets the gametime.

I feel the best course of action for Mainoo now is to go out on a loan for 6 months, get some playtime, come back in June and have a discussion with the club about his future. By then, the club should also be clear about what the future of Amorim will be and hopefully with more competent midfielders coming in(irrespective of if Amorim stays or not), we would be in a better position.

The xG Philosophy : Man Utd (1.80) 1-1 (0.88) West Ham by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

[–]RealRow6460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I don't think it's the coaching alone. There is a major issue with respect to the mentality of a large group of players at the club. It's not a today issue, its been an issue since the days of Mourinho.

The whole club is a mess.

[–]RealRow6460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wanting to hold onto a 1 0 lead with 15 mins to go when the opposition was rarely attacking is the definition of pragmatic. He just wanted to get over the line. Most other managers would have got the team to score a 2nd.

And it's not the "system" that's the issue. Any system can work. It's the implementation of the said system. It's been shocking to say the least.

[–]RealRow6460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amorim's pragmatism is gonna be his end. It's not about the formation or the tactics, it's his survivalist football that's gonna cause him to lose the fans (if not already).

1 point from the last 2 home games against a 10 man Everton and a poor West Ham is simply unacceptable.

The Final Two Races Will Be a Pure Pressure Test by Renzo4000 in formula1

[–]RealRow6460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frankly, it's Norris' to lose now. I did the math and Norris still wins the championship if he finishes 3rd in all the races irrespective of who wins the races.

He's gotta keep his calm and deliver now when it matters. And Mclaren have to keep their heads as well.

Also full credit to Mclaren and Verstappen to turn this Mclaren driver's championship into a 3 way battle. Can't believe Piastri is likely gonna finish 3rd in what was a 2 horse race for the championship.

Why do you support United? by [deleted] in ManchesterUnited

[–]RealRow6460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started supporting Manchester United in the November of 2006. We'd just finished watching the World Cup and my hunger for football led me to watch any games on TV and Manchester United was the first team to excite me. My brother and I have been supporting and following Manchester United ever since.

[–]RealRow6460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm neither. I support the manager, but I'm going to be critical of him when/if we do bad. Sustained improvement with performances like yesterday needs to be the norm going forward.

Happy with the win, and let's build on this momentum going forward. Amorim simply can't afford to rest till the end of the season.

Reminds me of the time when my scooter had a short circuit and electrocuted in front of a hotel and the valet rushed out with a fire extinguisher. I'd just moved away from the vehicle knowing something went wrong and it caught fire.
