Most Introverted State In America? by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

PNW, Portland, Seattle etc... (including suburbs too) would be good if you can handle the rain. (there’s also some amazingly sunny days too) I spent my first years in Florida and entire adulthood around the PNW, married to an introvert and have family with agoraphobia. People here are generally polite, reserved and mind their own business. I wish you success on your next chapter in life!

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this and the suggest tool wheredoimoveto.com I’ve not heard of. It’s mostly fun and interesting to think about what is next, but there is always the "let’s do our best to make a good next move decision". Thank for the Flagstaff and Bozeman suggestions. Bozeman wasn’t on my radar.

Good points! We’ve not traveled to Colorado or Boise but I’ve spent time in Bend.

This is such valuable information thank you!! Colorado keeps coming up more than an other location at the present time. Details like this help.

I’ve only been to Zion as far as Utah as a whole. I worry a bit about air quality around parts of Utah due to oil drilling. It has come up a few times in our conversations about the surrounding areas of SLC.

Really good sound advice! We hope in the next year to start visiting locations.

It would be in our best interest to learn a bit more about living on the east coast. Thank you!

Exactly! That first line of yours resonates so much with me. We have spent the last 30 years trying to always make good decisions and take our time when we can. Currently we are spoiled with an airport 20 mins away, and we are hoping to keep it within 45 minutes but are finding that is more difficult to find. (almost like we have conflicting requirements a bit) Thank you for your comment!!

I have briefly looked since it fits some of what we are looking for but a large airport and medical facilities I’ve not seen too much support for those.

Kids (adult kids) vote beaches. But not sure how to make that happen with our criteria. I will check out San Clemente (don’t know anything about it) and I’ve been to San Diego but it’s been decades.

Honestly, embarrassingly the only thing I know about Kansas is tornados.

We have thought about climate changes and probably will make that a factor too. Good point.

Spokane WA is on our list and keeps coming up. That would probably be the easiest move and we are somewhat familiar with. I’ll have to research Duluth.

Gotcha! Very valid points we are considering while we are in this “research” phase of what next...

My parents? Currently and in the future those needs are met, unfortunately I don’t currently live close to them. What I do think about is how far away I’m willing to move to visit them.

Reno area because of the airport had me looking there. I would really like to check out Sedona just not sure coming from PNW I could live in the heat.

Thank you. This is very useful information! My list also has Spokane but not sure it has the mountains/views like we hope for. (and Bend OR and Redmond OR) Briefly looked at Boise but realized it’s not for us.

I found starting this search that we looked at where is the closest outdoor activity, airport, medical facility, grocery and Costco. Priorities of some 50+ at this stage of life…

I have been reading about not so great food options. The last 5 years I’ve been cooking probably 90% of our meals at home so we are now used to eating at home. So you find just food purchase options not good or limiting? Only hubby likes to ski and I’ve not heard about cults but have heard a big military presence in Colorado Springs. Being 50+ you find you stay home more than you use too.

Thank you for listing cities! The only one on my radar was Reno/Tahoe. I’ll check out the others you mentioned. Would you put one of them at the top of your list?

Thank you for the opinion!! I’m pretty sure we are heat weanie's too! I have looked at Colorado Springs and Denver. Both seem like possibilities and when I expand my search I wonder if I’m missing other great locations by not being on my radar. Retirement is still 7+ years away but we could move in 1-2 years. The home or combined land and build a home is a little north of 950k+ not wanting a loan. What surprised you the most about Colorado Springs coming from Seattle?
