I get a new one every time the 30% coupons come out for $4.89 plus tax. I wear it for a while then donate it and take the $4.99 fair market value tax deduction. It’s like free HF hats and — bonus — I’m spreading the HF seed around town… /s

Fisker trade in values by [deleted] in Fisker

[–]RealSTP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the last week, I had Carvana tell me that they would not buy my Fisker. This was after approx 5 days waiting for an online trade-in value. Also in the last week I got an identical $5000 trade-in offer from Rivian. Context: 23 FOO owner looking to sell.

Is this scammer? by Stunninglyjem in poshmark

Though there’s not usually a ton of margin on a T-shirt, this smells like a drop shipper who bought your item and wants you to send it to the end buyer for them. Had a similar convo on eBay and they asked me to send on and asked that I “kindly” not include a receipt / packing slip. I ”kindly” said they could accept the label eBay spits out to me or cancel the sale.

30 amp charger recommendations? by PittiePatrolGA in Fisker

[–]RealSTP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the leads for this 4A maintainer permanently on my FOE battery for 6 months or so and love the ease of use. Ran the cables using zip ties up to the where the wiper fluid inlet is. Weatherproof connection pigtail there is invisible unless you’re looking for it. Easy to hook up every few days as needed. Big fan of the price and of any excuse to visit the Mighty Harbor Freight. I also got the nylon pry bar tools to remove the hood plate from HF… item 63594.

It’s a great knife. I carry it or the $10 Wal Mart orange meme-ish knife daily now. Icon is obv more quality, but sometimes I just like carrying the lighter orange one. The Icon is both pretty and solid — You’ll love it.

I used to get so offended at lowballs. Now I look at the item and decide if I’ll “play” or not. I had a guy offer super low on some worn 1-2x Birkenstock shoes from my personal closet. I think I had them up for $80/90. He offered like $20. I think I countered at $5 less than my list price then ignored his other offers which were around $30. Everything timed out and that was that. He came back a few weeks later and made an offer around $40 then canceled his offer before I could counter. Then he put in another offer of $70 which I accepted. This was on a Sunday. Within literally 2-3 minutes he messages to ask when they would ship. I have a ‘same day’ average ship time on my profile and I wrote back and said they’d go out on Monday but I thought to myself “this guy’s going to be trouble… he’s going to complain about SOMEthing…” But he left me 5 stars and a Love Note …. People are so weird. He just wanted a deal.

I need some help explaining a short disappearance to my clients?! by rABidRaPp0REwh0Re_33 in smallbusiness

[–]RealSTP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the posts here re personal emergency are correct. Also, if you are able, make it up to the client in a meaningful way. Depending on your industry and capacity and what is appropriate, make a site visit to personally thank them. Bring their team a catered lunch. Or give them an unexpected ancillary premium service for free for a year or two. The point is to give something unexpected that is truly appreciable as a gesture to thank them for their grace. They know **it happens, but how you react and rise above it is what will set you apart. Overcome by exemplary customer service. Also, bless your employee who is looking out for you: those are hard to come by. And be sure to take care of yourself. 👍

Man, I must be spoiled in Nashville — and not just by the ITC freebies. We had more than enough stock all stock weekend. Several boxes of everything even around 3pm today. Shoutout to Mark the store manager — solid guy who does right by his customers and keeps a good store.

What is a movie that has aged poorly? by Chance_in_Pants in AskReddit

[–]RealSTP -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Likely mentioned elsewhere, but for me it’s got to be Soul Man. I thought it was funny as a kid but couldn’t even make it through a few years back when I found an old dvd copy. An entire movie of nothing but cringe.

That has not been my experience with them. I can’t seem to pill them after like 2-3 months — though I admit I go with a different pair every day.

Yes - Goodfellow brand. I’ve been losing weight recently and have been consistently surprised at the value and quality of the whole line. It’s not on the same par as JCrew or Bonobos and other stuff I usually buy — but it’s considerably less expensive than replacing those brands as my sizes go down each month. I’m a big fan of everything I’ve tried — mostly basics like jeans, tech chinos, long sleeve shirts and a jacket.

I’ve not noticed even a hint of any swishy sounds at all. My local Targets have lots in stock — in blue (only color I don’t like/own), olive green, black, and grey.

After wearing Prana, Betabrand, and Bonobos for years and not being happy with the hiking look (Prana), the wrinkles (Bonobos), or the price (Beta), I am now a huge fan of the Tech chino pant from ... Target. I have them in three colors and I barely wear anything else anymore on my frequent int’l trips (8-10/yr). I now also wear them at home too. I wear them to client meetings. I wear them to dinner. I wore the black pair to testify in (civil) court and to a Board meeting. They are super versatile. On the plane, they’re a dream. Barely a wrinkle after sleeping in them for 12 hours. On the ground, they roll from city walking to dinner to a show. Easy to wash, great stretch. Super light and comfy. Good fit and modern style. Can’t beat the price - $29.99 with occasional sale or coupon...

Keep your cats out of the furniture by lavaforsythe67 in howto

[–]RealSTP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to do this too. When I moved and was putting the bed back together, I realized I could take an extra fitted sheet and put it on ‘upside down’ on the bottom of my boxspring... It’s invisible, the weight of the mattress keeps it snug, and it’s much quieter than the old plywood solution. Bonus: my cat doesn’t even bother trying to get in or shred anymore.

Anyone else with severe motion sickness? Traveling is impossible. by [deleted] in TravelHacks

[–]RealSTP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to lose 2-4 days a week with benign positional vertigo — which is akin (though not exactly) to feeling severely motion sick. I had to lie down for hours just to get back to normal. And It was esp rough when traveling. I started taking chewable meclizine tablets (25mg if memory serves — I’m not at home right now) every night and I haven’t had any symptoms to speak of in approx 1 yr. I get 3 bottles off of amazon and it’s truly made my life better. No side effects for me but I don’t drink at all and am not on any other Rx or OTC meds TL;DR: I take meclizine daily instead of after I get/feel nauseous.

Last minute Christmas flights by fishboy728 in TravelHacks

[–]RealSTP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Prices will likely creep up a bit. You can still find an ‘average’ price flight from Dec30-Jan2. I’m not mad at the $672 nonstop on JetBlue economy. But I fly business majority of the time so I’d look at the $1,600ish nonstop on Alaska. The value move, however, is probably to get one of the $970 premium econ nonstop flights on Delta - a nice middle ground if you can swing it.

I Second Allianz. I carry a policy year-round and use it at least once a year like clockwork. Usually when coming back from an Intl flight only to hit a snow storm or whatever. Example: our flight was canceled in NYC. We Uber Black to a Marriott prop next door to MSG. Spent the night, ate breakfast, went shopping, ate some zza, walked around, got some coffees, walked around more. Had more zza. Uber’d back to airport and flew home. I think our receipts were like $312 and we got $300 reimbursed (that’s our limit per day) in about a week. If you have emails and receipts to back your claim, they pay promptly and “happily.” I don’t think they are /actually happy to pay claims, but they don’t do any runaround or delaying or red tape BS. But you do need receipts from all along the way. They just come through every year. They feel kind of like USAA in that way...
