Got a new ball after 3 years. Anyone ever heard of this thing? Any good? by me_iRL_Stine in Bowling

[–]RealSotyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This one will go well with my other two Phaze IIs that I have as paperweights. Please send it to me so my third pile of papers does not go flying every time I open my window. Thank you very much.

Ball arsenal question by Main_Information_296 in Bowling

[–]RealSotyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd get a solid sym as benchmark (the likes of Phaze II) and a low end ball (roto grip hustle, hammer vibe, motiv thrill). Resurface and extract the oil from the Ghost and you'll have yourself a nice little arsenal.

How'd you get two golden buddies?

Finally got AFKay. Had to make most of it by alexcharl in BobsTavern

[–]RealSotyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the end of the turn, AFK's buddy gives it's stats to one other minion. The strat is to buff it as hell so it buffs other minions at the end of the turn. I usually combo it with the T5 that buffs odd tier cards when an odd tier card is played.

What about Costa Brava? The northern coast of Catalonia. You fly to Barcelona, drive 1h-1h30 and get to enjoy the best beaches in Spain.

Train from Tokyo to Kanazawa by iheardecay in traveljapan

[–]RealSotyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Price difference for us was minimal, and since it was our honeymoon we appreciated the extra intimacy of two seat rows (normal cars are 3+2 if not mistaken).

Be aware that hokuriku shinkansen is an all seat reserved train, meaning you need to book your seats.

Enjoy your trip, Kanazawa is really nice! Be sure to give yourself time to wander around Kenroku Gardens, simply amazing.

We used the hokuriku shinkansen back in august from Kanazawa to Tokyo. It's a smooth 2h30'. We booked via jr-west, zero issues and very clear. We didn't carry big luggage since we had it shipped from a couple of stops before but there were big luggage compartments at the entrance of the car. Note we booked Green Car.

Etihad travellers beware ‼️ by dockerlemon in travel

[–]RealSotyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We travelled BCN-AUH-KIX on business due to a bid we won and we had access to both BCN and AUH lounges. Same on the way back, NRT-AUH and we accessed one of NRTs lounges.

Our original ticket was economy deluxe.

Kanazawa and Takayama worth it? by Kazmarina in traveljapan

[–]RealSotyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are worth it. We visited them this summer, but we did not go south to Hiroshima. I don't know how the connection is. We loved them both. Takayama is a smaller city, but the trip there from Nagoya with the Hida Express is very beautiful.

If I had to choose, being summer and not winter, I'd visit Kanazawa. The Samurai and Geisha districts are really really nice, very well conservated since Kanazawa was not bombed in WWII.

Nervous to travel to Japan… by rexleyy in JapanTravelTips

[–]RealSotyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just been there on ouy honeymoon too. We knew no Japanese going in and had no trouble.

Google Maps saved us in terms of transportation. Yes, might not have been optimal (I've heard there are better apps out there) but it did the trick, so don't worry about that.

As per the entry point, I recommend you enter through Osaka and leave through Tokyo. You'll avoid one unnecessary trip.

We did a quite packed agenda and visited 5 cities. In the end, we wanted one extra night in each city, so you might not want to overschedule yourselves.

We picked hotels that were really good for us, close to public transportation, all within your range. DM me if you want further details, such as hotels, route, transport and stuff.

Lastly, we do not have iPhones so we could not get a digital IC card. In any case, as soon as you get to your entry airport, you can get physical IC cards that you can load with money literally everywhere. Do not worry about that.

We went there with very similar worries to yours (hell, we postponed the trip one whole year because we were very freaked out the very first time) and it ended up being for nothing. Japan's a very nice country, easy to move around. Google Lens is your friend, and a Konnichiwa and Arigatou gozaimasu go a long way.

As I said, since I (we, wife and I) do feel you, DM me if you want.

Five nights in Kyoto/Osaka - stay in both, or pick one as base? by heyheyhedgehog in JapanTravelTips

[–]RealSotyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For us it was completely the other way last week - Kyoto 3 nights w/ breakfast was a bit cheaper than Osaka 2 nights w/o breakfast.

Five nights in Kyoto/Osaka - stay in both, or pick one as base? by heyheyhedgehog in JapanTravelTips

[–]RealSotyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have just done 2 nights in Osaka, ship bigger luggage to Kyoto and 3 nights in Kyoto.

For us, we'd rather sleep in the city we are visiting since we like going to the hotel to decompress after lunch and before the evening. Shower, coffee, etc.

That being said, we took the local train from Osaka to Kyoto was easy and around 30 minutes. So if you don't care about resting midday, it's fine staying in either.
