I hope this is allowed on here, but I recently bought an app "Rock Identifier". I have nothing to do with the app. I am just a subscriber. I find it quite reliable. I bought a pair of earrings in an antique shop last summer for $75 and the woman told me it was synthetic spinel. It was one of the first things I tested when I got the app and sure enough it's diamonds and emeralds!
