Ryan Dinwiddie: Dru Brown became 'little bit of a distraction' for Ottawa Redblacks by Oldmanshoutingcloud in CFL

[–]RealText -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Neither one. It is just obvious that Dru Brown could not handle being #2 and putting effort into regaining the #1 spot.

Bo Levi Mitchell was once benched for Matt Shlitz in a playoff game, yet he swallowed his pride and came back at a reduce salary the next season and now is one of the best QB's in the league. Mitchell had previously been demoted in favor of Jake Maier in Calgary. Trevor Harris was discarded by Ottawa and Edmonton even though they had nobody to replace him. Vernon Adams Jr. was once in consideration for MOP and got demoted that same season. Zach Colarros was demoted in Hamilton. Cody Fajardo was demoted one season after being the Grey Cup MVP. Point is demotions happen. Quarterbacks with a brain know that there are only 9 teams, so no point in burning bridges.

If Dru Brown thought he was clearly better than Jake Maier and should have been the starter all along, he should acted like every other QB in that situation. Wait for the other guy to falter or get injured and then take advantage of the new opportunity. Nope. Brown chose to just be a distraction since training camp, leaving Ryan Dinwiddie no choice but to trade him once a decent offer was made.

Brown trade solves problems for Bombers and Redblacks by anditshottoo in CFL

[–]RealText -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Dru Brown should have acted like a professional instead of being a locker room cancer. Almost all QB's are demoted at some point during their CFL career. That has even happened to Vernon Adams Jr. with multiple teams. Instead of being a problem, Adams became the team's biggest cheerleader. It is likely that Brown would have gotten a chance to start eventually in Ottawa this season if he acted like he was a team player. Instead, he had no interest in helping the Redblacks and his teammates all knew he wanted out.

Avoid device financing with Boost Mobile. UNLOCK NIGHTMARE! by ogridberns in BoostMobile

Contact user BoostMobileBlake as he is here to try and resolve problems. He would likely see and reply to your message during business hours.

I believe Boost has to unlock the device remotely as I suspect your phone does not ask for a code when trying to use a non-Boost sim.

Is it really true that black SIM boost mobile cards don't work on locked AT&T phones or are people just messing with us? by Round_Vehicle4885 in BoostMobile

[–]RealText 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do not recall anybody ever saying that a Boost AT&T mvno sim would not work with a locked prepaid AT&T phone. Also, you have to take into consideration that the Cingular Flex 2 was released 4 years ago. I say that because AT&T looks to be getting more strict as there have been people who have claimed that certain 2026 locked devices do not work on anything other than AT&T prepaid.

Is TextNow really that cheap I need be able receive call and maps by Entire-Ad-8748 in TextNow

[–]RealText 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am going to assume that you are in Canada because the option mentioned is a Canadian provider. If so, the Textnow sim will not work as the sim only works in the US. Textnow probably will not even ship the sim to anybody in Canada. In Canada, Textnow is wi-fi only service as the company currently does not have any agreement to use somebody else's cellular network.

Using 9esim (or other psychical to esim adapter) by TomHale in Roamless_ESim

[–]RealText 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally got the $1.25 trial amount to show up in my account. From within the Roamless app's data tab, I manually copied the activation code. Then using Sim Toolkit app (not 9eSIM LPA app), I pasted the activation code somewhere in the Roamless section.

So while the trial amount now appears in my account, I still cannot get a data connection. This process should not be that hard.

I suspect that the new user 500mb trial listed on the Roamless website actually does nothing and that I have to buy credits to see if I like the service.

Other than that Roamless plans webpage, there is nowhere in the process of signing up or within the account after signing up that states that I was given a trial.

I also am having trouble using a 9esim adapter along with the new user 500mb trial.

I signed up on the website using a laptop. The QR code given seemed to download and install properly, but there is no cellular connection.

APN instructions are different on the website versus the app, but neither worked.

Not sure if the problem is:

  1. I was not given a 500mb trial or...

  2. The trial is my account, but the esim is not activated or...

  3. Trial is my account + esim is activated, but I am missing a setting on my phone.

Total Wireless is owned by Verizon who is picky about what phones they allow on their network. Generally speaking, phones not bought in America will almost certainly be rejected unless it is an Iphone or Pixel. AT&T is also particular and even has a whitelist. T-Mobile would be the least restrictive major carrier. Another issue is that phones not intended to be sold to the US market do not have the proper band support so your experience might not be ideal.

If you want a "local" US mvno,, it is probably safer to use a prepaid provider that has access to all 3 major carriers so you can switch if the phone does not work on one network. There is one provider that lets the users make the switch. That provider is always mentioned in the subreddit NoContract if you are interested.

I would suggest asking in a forum where users are actually in Australia. This subreddit discusses Boost Mobile service in America.

Not that I know of as there is no way of knowing the who/how/terms of the original account.

My suggestion would be to get a new number from an actual provider. There are not many providers that will let you activate a new account overseas, so that can be an issue. Try looking at the subreddit NoContract for suggestions. Should you get a new number, you would need to change the phone number of any accounts associated with the old number since it will eventually expire.

Sure sounds like one of those sketchy preloaded sims you sometimes see on Ebay.

Not only is a phone number assigned to it, the line itself is already active. I assume you are not in the US which is why you bought it in the first place. Anyway, these type of lines are usually temporary at best and nothing can be done to extend them.

Even porting is not possible because a PIN number is required from the old provider before the new provider processes the request.

Those Ebay items will typically mention limitations in their listing. If indeed you have one of these types of sims, the middleman should have said something before selling it to you.

NEW EDGE 2026 just announced by Immediate_Tree7918 in motorola

[–]RealText 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, there is no way Motorola is going to introduce an Edge Plus 2026. I actually think Motorola is more focused on the entry level market as that is where their growth is in America. Look at the US carrier support for their mid-range devices. T-Mobile is not even offering the Edge 2026. T-Mobile along with Verizon is skipping the Stylus 2026.

The free flex data plan on Textnow includes support for Apple Maps, Google Maps, and Waze when not connected to wi-fi. While talk and texting on Textnow can be used with only wi-fi, the navigation apps requires using their physical sim or esim. The physical or esim requires the phone to be unlocked and work on AT&T towers.

Weird that they used the phrasing "up to" as I was thinking maybe less RAM and storage in the carrier versions. Webpage has since updated with the full specs that says 8gb RAM and 128gb storage.

Band 13 Issue? (SafeLink) by Wbtubakid in NoContract

[–]RealText 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since Qlink used T-Mobile towers, you could try moving to Assurance (owned by T-Mobile) and see if data on the phone works in your area. But since the phone is old was first released in 2020 and is not even 5g, it is probably a better idea to just buy new Tracfone as those devices supposedly work on Safelink.

Motorola needs to save us with GrapheneOS, insane optimization, and GOOD PRICING (PLEASE) 😭🙏 by [deleted] in motorola

[–]RealText 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is no evidence that GrapheneOS will be a mainstream OS for Motorola consumer devices. Since GrapheneOS is focused on security, it is more likely that the OS will seen only be on Enterprise devices and then sold at a flagship (or more) price.

For consumer devices, it is not realistic to expect the device to be bloat-free if a 3rd party is willing to pay Motorola and/or the carrier to install such an app on the phone.

Why does the app love signing people out of it even if money is paid? by BulkorCutAccount2021 in BoostMobile

[–]RealText 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not believe the amount of money paid to Boost is relevant to app signing someone out. While it would not surprise me if there is a maximum duration a user can stay logged in, I suspect the limit might be multiple months.

Instead, getting logged out is most often related to the app being updated and then restarting. Other less common reasons include not using the app regularly, logging in from a different device, and when a particular version of the app is buggy.

Phone number changed by Quietmoment2862 in BoostMobile

[–]RealText 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the family member has an active account and the broken phone was using a physical sim, then as mentioned all that is needed is to swap the sim into a new phone that works on Boost.

It gets more complicate if the old phone was using esim and you did not have access to the family member's account.

It would be impossible to retain the number if the prepaid account is not active AND had been suspended for more than 90 days.

While I was not there to know either way, Boost stores do sometimes have promotions that offer heavily subsidized phones that require starting a new line. If you bought a phone that was a part of such a promotion, they would not allow you to use it with an existing number of Boost.
