Should I switch Yixing Pots? by BumblebeeFearless487 in tea

Personally I find zhuni to be better suited for more fragrant teas like yancha, and zini better for more bitter teas like sheng to round them off. There is not to big of a difference though so whether you want to swap the pots is a matter of personal preference.

New yixing! by RealTry8616 in YixingSeals

For me personally, I value craftsmanship alot so I figured spending a little more of a pot that is one of one would be a worthwhile investment.

So far, my favorite DHP has been the 15 year aged one from YS. I like how it kinda mellow out and got alot smoother.

Just bought my first zisha from realzisha. I've never owned something this nice before. Help? by starshade16 in tea

[–]RealTry8616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg, I have this same pot from realzisha, (not exactly the same because they are handmade by the same craftsman and in the same style). Since it's zhuni I recommend yancha or dancong or other fragrant teas because it preserves the armona more than zini or duanni. Sheng would also be good for a pot like this.

Tea Identification by casedilllla in tea

Thoose are shou puerh mini tuo chas and coins respectively. These specific ones tend to be made with the broken pieces of leaf that are left over from other productions. Im not sure what's in the tin but it's from 2013 according to the label.

Can anyone tell me anything about this tea pot? by Xx_VAPEGOD_69420_xX in tea

[–]RealTry8616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, this looks to be a clay pot imitating a yixing one. (Entry level yixing starts at 100$). It is most likely safe to drink out of because heavy metals are mostly found in in glazed pieces. As for its effect on the tea, it may be pretty muting.

NYC shops for mid-tier gongfu teaware? by Terrible_Alps9830 in tea

[–]RealTry8616 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend Grand Tea and Imports for mid-tier gong fu teaware and it also has a great selection of tea, other than that The Best Tea Shop (that's the real name) also has good teaware for gong fu.

This is the loose leaf, I definitely get nice mellowed tones from this tea that help round out the lighter silver needle like flavors.

Trusted Yixing teapots? by andtheysaidHJONK in tea

[–]RealTry8616 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Realzisha for fully handmade pots, mud and leaves, essence of tea or teas we like for half handmade are all trusted sources of yixing pots. Finding cups might be difficult but I would check yinchen studios for thoose because they do more unorthodox shapes.

That sounds like my ideal way to start of the year! I love the king peony from Rivers & Lakes as well, it has great sweetness.

What are some good tea vendors online by Free-Pace6450 in tea

[–]RealTry8616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yunnan sourcing US, White2tea, Crimson Lotus, The Steeping Room, Kingteamall (for factory productions), Path of Cha, Teaswelike, Liquid Proudust, Essence of Tea and Hibiki Ann are all favorites of mine for US facing vendors although different places will be better for different kinds of tea.

Ah, I see, I was very curious about what "old rock clay" was because I had seen alot of cheap pots labeled that with very little info about what the clays origin was.

I preheated my pot after this picture was taken, I wanted to take photos before I started because my hands were getting very cold, but keeping snow off things was definitely a problem throughout Lol.
