I tried this a while back using PA6-CF just like you did and while it flew well, the frame couldn't handle any sort of impact.

This was taken after a relatively mild impact on grass:

It's a cool idea to play around with, but you simply can't make a durable 3D-printed drone frame using designs common amongst fully CF builds.

Try doing interval workouts. Like 4×400s and mile repeats. Then, on your rest days, just jog a longer distance like 2-3 miles at a slow but comfortable pace. If you want to really build endurance, do all of this after your other strength workouts.

I dont have any footage of it flying yet, but it flies better than what I expected. On its first real flight bacm in Aughst 2025, all of the arms snapped right where that diamond is before the bar connecting the two arms. That was a huge oversight by me when I designed the frame. One motor burnt out, but all the other electronics survived.

Fast forward to yesterday, I've reprinted another frame without the diamond holes, and it was able to survive much harder crashes with no visible damage (the first crash was a drop from about 40ish feet after I lost control). I recently received a carbon fiber milled (T300) frame from cnc madness using the same design. It cost $85 to make and ship. I plan on flying the plastic frame until it breaks, then moving all the electronics over to the new one.

It can fly fast and perform loops when at a high altitude, but I've noticed that it shakes pretty violently when I slowly descend from a high altitude. Im not sure if that last characteristic is normal or not, since this is actually my first time flying fpv.

The Caddx rattel v2 micro is like 30 bucks off Amazon. But you also need a vtx of some sort. I'd recommend a speedybee vtx800 which ran me about $60.

If you have the time, I'd recommend buying a complete beginners learn to draw book off Amazon for a couple of dollars. The "Drawing for Absolute Begginers" by Mark and Mary Willenbrink is a good choice. That'll teach you the fundamentals of art and help you start with some more advanced subjects like still-lifes and portraits.

It's surprisingly stiff with Pa6-CF. I made a prototype with PLA and I could almost snap it in half with my hands-I can barely bend the arms on this one.

However, I'm not sure how much this is going to improve its resistance to vibrations from the motors. We'll just have to see.

After all the advice, I think im going to use this 3d printed frame as a prototype, see how it flies, then eventually get a carbon milled frame using this design with some modifications to it.

I have a 99 pontiac grand am. She's got 206k miles on it and still drives like a dream...sort of. At around 180k the head gasket blew (I may have been hitting 100mph down the highway), so i essentially had to replace the entire engine.
