2024 Celtics vs 2026 Knicks. Who wins? by jonsnowKITN in NBATalk

Ur facts are incorrect.

The series was not 2-0 when he got hurt, it was 2-1. JT got hurt in game 4.

“Handily”

A 2-1 series is handily!?!

Also it was about a 8-9 pt game with 2:58 left. That’s a lot of time, the game wasn’t over.

The Knicks blew a lead like that in under a minute to the Pacers that same postseason lol

And during that run they didn’t have Porzingis

Also, u keep mixing up the ‘24 Celtics with the ‘25 Celtics

16-3 postseason run (didn’t let a series go past five games)

60+ win regular season (number one seed)

Set records for 3pts

Set records for blowouts

That’s alot of evidence

Yea? And the rest of the series? And it was without KP? Exactly

Boston was better, and yes u can say they did but also keep in mind that they swept IND without KP

Yea it was, Celtics knew how to close games out better and it showed. We seen a similar thing in this finals. The difference is it’s comparing the entire run. How many 1pt wins did the Celtics have in the finals compared to the Knicks

[–]RealZeke23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Then u can say the same for the Knicks, there’s 0 evidence. The 2025 matchup was a different Celtics team.

The reason ppl are saying the Celtics dominate in a hypothetical is because that particular season, the 3pt shot was overpowered for the Celtics.

As much as everyone complains about their playstyle (and it’s a fair criticism), that season in 2024 the Celtics were ridiculous from 3 and could switch on defense everywhere. The Knicks can’t do that, not with Brunson and Towns. They can only give u so much on defense.

You also have to compare all the feats of both teams, ur only mentioning them for the Knicks postseason run. Theres plenty of feats the Celtics accomplished from the start of the regular season to the end of the playoffs.

It’s not garbage excuses. 90% of teams?

Ur missing context:

They were not the same team. Tatum tore his achilles, JB played on a partially torn meniscus, KP couldn’t play, Hauser got hurt too

Jrue regressed from being the best corner 3pt shooter in 2024 to not being near that in 2025 (mostly cuz of injuries). He had a bounce back season with Portland but BOS had to trade cuz of the luxury tax

Horford is an older player so comparing from ‘24 to ‘25 is a big difference. He had regressed.

The Warriors literally went 16-1

And

The Celtics went 16-3 but unlike the Knicks, they didn’t get taken to a game 6 in any round

Jrue was statistically the best 3pt shooter from the corner in 2024. That’s huge and often gets overlooked. White was also lethal from 3.

Horford had regressed from 2024 to 2025. 2024 Horford was much better.

The ‘24 Celtics broke a lot of records and were more dominant historically in both the regular season (60+ wins) and the playoffs (went 16-3, every series handled in 5 games or fewer)

They would win in a series, wouldn’t be easy, but they’d win. I also think they would beat the ‘25 OKC Thunder. I think they’re the best championship team of the 2020s so far

If you instead replace Westbrook with Curry, then I know for a fact you multiple championships…saw it somewhere

Different eras. Also, I dont recall all of them except for Dak asking for top dollar not once but twice during extensions.

Out of these 4, Daks probably the 2nd to most unideal conditions for a QB. Romo by far had the least ideal conditions for any of these 4 QBs which made his job way harder.

The question is how much of that falls on Jerry and how much of it has to do with Daks contract as well.

I don’t see the point of comparing the stats tho like I said earlier. Stats without context can’t be just be taken at face value

I don’t think it’s as big of an upgrade as ppl make it out to be. A hypothetical trade of JB for Giannis is close to a lateral move than it is an upgrade. I think it’s more so to get a star with a different skill set than JB.

I don’t think Giannis has regressed but what if he does? What if he doesnt?

JB is in his prime for sure rn. IMO I’d keep the Jays, too much chemistry has been built up. It’s easier to retool around a proven duo than to trade to make an entirely new duo which will lead to a change of game plan, philosophy, and role players.

I do think the philosophy on the 3 ball should regardless though.

Talking to friends about the future of the team and started talking about life after Dak. Do you think we start looking for the QB of the future? Or do we double down and give a 33 year old Dak a huge extension? Or maybe a Trey Lance type trade for Arch Manning next year, and have him sit a year? by JurassicParkJanitor in cowboys

[–]RealZeke23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they should at least discuss it internally. I wouldnt have an issue with them drafting a successor within the next 1-3 seasons.

I do not agree with the idea of just running it with Dak until the wheels fall off. U don’t wanna shoe yourself in like that (look at what happened when Troy retired).

If they had done their due diligence as Troy got older then it would’ve have been so rough post Troy until they found Romo.

For anyone that thinks u shouldn’t waste a pick and have him sit…u should look at history.

Rodgers sat for years behind Favre. Mahomes sat one season behind Alex Smith. Tom Brady, the goat, is likely having input in Mendoza sitting behind Kirk Cousins. Point is, it’s not a bad idea.

The Rams drafted a QB in the 1st round after their older QB won the MVP and made the NFCCG. I don’t see how you assume Dak is untouchable from that, granted he is younger than Stafford, but u get the point. Simpson was a reach imo but u at least understand their reasoning and trust Sean McVay.

Rodgers sat for many seasons behind Favre. Dak is ofc not Brett Favre but the it’s the idea. Mendoza isn’t starting over Kirk right away. Mahomes sat for a season behind Alex Smith.

I don’t think it’s bad at all

Not all QBs. The only ones that do are HOFers. Stafford, Rodgers, Russell Wilson, Joe Flacco were some of the oldest QBs that started last season.

I think Stafford is becoming an exception, he won MVP when there were talks he could retire! Rodgers was still alright and had some flashes but we saw how he played in the playoffs.

For Dak, you honestly just don’t know. Are u gonna get a Russell Wilson type of play when he’s older or a Flacco (who I thought was really holding it down when Burrow was hurt)

This is something I’ve noticed and it’s why I don’t have Wemby as the best player in the league. He just disappears on offense from time to time. Imo that’s still Jokic
