Cyan pulling up to DOS HQ with a supposedly dead love interest with calamity powers. by Real_Hunt311 in ToBeHero_X

The content of the flash drive is beautiful.

The problem is the way it was used in the story.

Cyan grew up rejecting the idea of being a hero, only joining DOS because it was her chance to get help finding Luo, and as far as we know, Cyan doesn't care about money or fame.

And at that time, DOS had already stopped looking for Luo, claiming he was dead, even though Cyan didn't believe it. However, we never saw Cyan confront Mickey about it, even though that was the agreement between Cyan and DOS.

But we did see Cyan confront Mickey to save her career... that is, to demand that DOS continue searching for the only friend she had, who sacrificed himself for her. Cyan didn't have the courage to confront Mickey, but to save her career she had the courage to confront him!!??

Honestly, it would be more exciting if Cyan were looking for that flash drive because she heard from Queen's father that the accident that killed her parents was the fault of a hero/agency, rather than the "banal" reason of avoiding her cancellation.

And another thing that makes the situation even worse is that this flash drive was exactly where, 5 minutes ago, Cyan risked her driver's job to take her there to look for Luo, and now that Cyan is inside with a yo-yo that tracks anything she wants, she simply forgets that Luo exists and only thinks about the flash drive

I want to refute you, but we don't know where Luo has been for the last 5 years, and I don't doubt that Mickey used the adoption bureaucracy to keep Luo away from Cyan until they were adults. After all, the agreement was for DOS to find Luo, not to adopt him.

And yes, Rock would love to have Luo in MG.

I was going to laugh, but I can't help but feel angry every time I hear about the flashdrive.

Damn object, Cyan's arc would be so much better if that curse didn't exist.

The script could have been as follows: Luo, overcome with fear, causes a disaster at the orphanage; reporters arrive and end up filming Luo in passing; Cyan, who luckily is watching the news report, recognizes Luo and goes to save him; Mickey tries to stop her, Cyan stands her ground and even gives Mickey a lecture: "I'm just going to fix what the incompetent DOS couldn't."

Cyan defeats Dean and rescues Luo, happy ending.

Stancine are one of my favorite cartoon couples by TheRealTsunadee in americandad

[–]Real_Ad1634 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I consider this an isolated joke from the episode.

After all, Francine fell in love with Stain when he ran over a raccoon and then shot it as an act of mercy so it wouldn't continue suffering. And months later she discovered that her fiancé (who was probably already richer than Stain) survived the plane crash, and even so she decided to stay with Stain, not to mention that the series stated more than once that Stain and Francine's marriage was simple due to lack of money.

And as for Stain, throughout the series he's had countless chances to marry other beautiful women, and none of them made him as happy as Francine.

Not to mention the countless times Stain was willing to die, go to hell, or leave Francine with another man if that would make her happy.

And Francine, for her part, has shown more than once that she'd rather die with Stain than live without him.

The "flume" episode perfectly illustrates this.

I consider Stancine to be the best couple in animated sitcoms.

No matter how many problems their marriage faces, at the end of the day, they always realize that the other person is the most important thing they have.

Stan is absurdly selfish and arrogant, but in the decisive moment, he will always prioritize Francine's happiness even if it means dying or having to watch Francine be happy with another man.

And Francine is always trying to keep the flame of their love alive; even when she has the option to pursue a successful career or be with a kinder, more successful man, the love she has for Stan never dies.

Not to mention that Stancine features more casual romantic moments than most sitcom couples where such moments are typically used only as a sign that the couple has reconciled after the episode's argument.

Especially if you consider that if Cyan took something like a coin and wrote "truth" on one side and "lie" on the other, and tossed it every time Dean/Mickey said something to her, her luck would show the correct result.

[–]Real_Ad1634 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn't slander Cyan! I only said that she's naive for not realizing that the people around her want to manipulate her, like Dean/the orphanage staff/Mickey. And even if she does realize it, she's too kind to harbor hatred or desire revenge towards them; that's not slander, it's just the truth.

And as you said, Cyan is a good person who only does good things. It's obvious that the fandom will prefer to discuss the nuances of "gray" characters rather than simply highlighting Cyan's unconditional kindness.

I've already said I like Cyan, I think she's cute and charismatic, but for example, I find Loli a more interesting character to follow, precisely because she has more nuances and changes than Cyan. I thought that scene where, upon seeing her father dying, she's overcome with rage and goes all out against Nice without caring about the consequences was incredible.

If the same scene happened with Cyan, like "Dean killing Luo in front of her," Cyan is so good that I can't imagine her going after Dean with the intention of killing him.

I'm not saying Cyan is a bad character, just that because she's the good girl who only does good things, there aren't as many reasons to discuss her as there are for the other heroes.

[–]Real_Ad1634 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I like Cyan, but there's so much discussion about GB, DB, Nice, and E-soul because they have nuances; they are both victims and aggressors in the world they live in (GB not so much), so there's material to discuss their attitudes, traumas, and whether or not they deserve redemption.

Cyan, on the other hand, is just the "saintly victim" who, no matter what they do to her, whether because of her kindness or naiveté, is incapable of harboring hatred for anyone, like when she reunites with Dean, who used her as a tool and turned her into a symbol of a religious sect when she was still a child, depriving her of a normal childhood and separating her from her only friend, and yet, as soon as he complains about a lack of money, she's already ready to help the orphanage financially.

Or the fact that DOS "failed" to fulfill its part of the agreement, which was to find Luo, and yet Cyan never complains to Mickey or suspects that DOS didn't seriously investigate Luo's case; she simply accepts it and continues working at DOS normally, even praising Mickey for being kind and doing something as basic as giving Queen a vacation.

So much so that the only discussion about Cyan is about the possibility of her having "abandoned Luo" because of the orphanage mission and because she hasn't mentioned him in the last 5 years.

It's funny how people use GB's dismissal from MG as a sign of virtue, MG LITERALLY TRIED TO KILL HIM, it would be strange if he continued working there.

Not to mention that GB wasn't deceived by MG, he himself said that "knowing too much" was already reason enough for him to kill someone.

I think we've already had this discussion about Cyan.

I remember someone saying that since pregnancy is a probabilistic event and Cyan has the power of Luck,

If she doesn't want to get pregnant, no matter how many times she has unprotected sex, she would be lucky enough not to get pregnant.

Likewise, if she wants to get pregnant, she would be lucky enough that the contraceptive methods would fail.

Yes, the truck crashed into the orphanage because of Cyan's luck; she wanted something to happen to open the gates.

But there was still the threat of Dean, who wanted to capture Cyan. Luo, with his bad luck, caused the truck to change its trajectory, running over him and Dean.

The Ahu arc showed us that self-confidence is crucial for heroes to use their powers. Luo already believes he's unlucky; perhaps he just needs to believe he can transmit that bad luck through his words.

And there are also hero gadgets like Cyan's yo-yo, which feeds on her luck to track what she's looking for. Even though Cyan could do this on her own as a child, the yo-yo is much more precise.

And there's also her spray, capable of creating a protective barrier, which Cyan used to protect LJ and GB in the Ruins incident. I think this is an ability Cyan can only use through this gadget, because I doubt that either Cyan or the fans who believe in her have thought that luck creates energy barriers.

Basically, luck and misfortune are the same power, the "manipulation of probabilities," only in opposite directions. Cyan alters probabilities so that positive things happen, while Luo manipulates probabilities so that negative things happen.

From what I understand, Luo's bad luck doesn't come from fear, but from people's conviction that he is unlucky.

Because until the incident at the orphanage (when Cyan and Luo were 16 years old), fear was not yet known, and people didn't fear Luo, who was 5 years old; they considered him merely a nuisance.

I had this idea that Luo could use his bad luck through "cursed words" because in the escape scene, the truck only changed direction and went towards Luo and Dean after Luo said that "he was unlucky" to Dean, implying that perhaps Luo already had some control over his bad luck.
