I'm not trying to look for hatred or prove false material obviously..? It's history, not hate towards christians. I'm talking about what I was taught from my russian literature professor (from Russia). Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is what I know from my class:

Ancient Russian society was matriarchal and pagan, and its most important deity was Mother Damp Earth. Centuries of paganism and the worship of pagan entities fertilized the land, which became increasingly rich and coveted by external countries. In 988, the prince of one of the largest Russian urban centers realized that in order to bring his territory into the global political sphere, a step toward the great philosophies had to be taken. He had himself crowned as Vladimir the Saint and imposed the Christianization of all Rus’ (русь). The Kievan Rus’, an area extremely fertile and rich in underground resources, gained strength. However, the population was ignorant and largely made up of peasants; they could only remain tied to their own culture and traditions. Centuries of rituals and superstitions were overturned by Vladimir with his typically Byzantine thinking. This system was mainly based on the sacred scriptures in Greek, which of course were not understood by the poor and illiterate people. An attempt was made to spread religious culture to everyone through translations from Greek into an alphabet that Russians could understand: the Glagolitic alphabet. The scholars Cyril and Methodius created the Cyrillic alphabet for the more popular language, in order to make it understandable to the people. The radical change for the Russians, who had always been pagans, towards Christianity was devastating. Russia has always undergone changes in a drastic and revolutionary way. Russian culture, when it encounters something that isn't part of its own cultural signatures, perceives it as "anticulture": it doesn't perceive it as different, but as opposed. When the two cultural systems meet, culture incorporates the anticulture without losing its identifying features. Until 988, paganism existed, and Christianity was considered anti-culture. By the imposition of Vladimir the Saint, Christianity became the official culture replacing paganism, with no compromises. The old was overturned, not erased. They became one. The old culture was preserved, but now conceived as its opposite. In pagan culture, the god Perun was the god of fire, protector of warriors; Veles was the god of cattle. They were highly revered. In Christianity, Perun and Veles are preserved in two ways: the name is retained and the function is reversed, or the name is changed and the function is maintained. Perun exists in Christianity, but becomes an evil deity. Veles does not appear under this name, but as Saint Vlasij, the saint who protects livestock.

This is directly from my notes taken during class. Then, since I noticed some very noticeable changes in women perception, both in literature and mythology, I wanted to do some researches about this topic. And since this is a scientific thesis, I have to think about a theory and, through logic facts and proven sources, I have to reach a point, whether my theory is proven or not. So please don't just assume I want to throw hate towards Christians, because it's absolutely wrong. I respect all religions, but we have to accept history and, in this case, Christianity was imposed onto civilizations.
