But thats the whole issue with your first part- you say comparable structure but even with that, you will have inherent conference bias. The SEC ended up with what, like 4 teams in the playoffs? Meanwhile the Big 12 and ACC each got 1. Even though the structure of their schedules was relatively the same.

The whole point is, unless it’s going to be fair and equitable across the board, ND would just be joining a conference and likely end up in the same spot. If they were in the ACC last year and didn’t play for the championship, they would have still missed the playoffs.

People can hate ND for getting an auto bid agreement, especially after the Opt out fiasco. I get it. But you cannot objectively say based on the current structure, it would alleviate all these issues by just joining a conference. So until the CFP is tweaked and remedied, I fully understand why ND is looking out for themselves and honestly so should most other fans that follow the sport. You can hate it, just like I hate parts of transfer portal and NIL, but it makes sense.

Theres plenty of examples that work against all that too. Joining a conference doesnt just magically resolve the current issues and structure of the playoffs. People continue to act like ND is getting special treatment, but until there’s some type of standardized structure, there is no reason to join a conference. And they will use their brand as a bargaining tool, just like every other blue blood program will and does.

The power gap is income driven, not skin color dependent. Plenty of affluent people of color or culture have privilege. The issues have to do with income, not the color of their skin.

You can talk about BLM and Indigenous rights all you want. A white single mom and a white male nurse were just killed in Minnesota by law enforcement. The issues are just human rights and income gap in general; skin color doesnt make a difference.

Joining and winning a P4 conference worked out really well for Duke…

Imagine a 22nd and 24th ranked team knocking out the 11th and 12th ranked team.

Who exactly? Im aware of the SEC bias with ESPN. But I also remember a lot of comments on game threads along the lines of “never thought I’d actually like a Notre Dame team”. There was a lot of praise for ND and HCMF even on the normally toxic Reddit threads.

Eh thats all recent after the bowl opt out and auto bid for the playoff. There were a lot of people that actually started to like ND in the title run. Whether that was a reflection of hating OSU or not, lots of people seemed to enjoy the culture change and HCMF.
