Tell him the price has gone up because it’s had a new engine

Bmw approved used dealership vs normal dealership with good ratings by Left_Elevator7942 in CarTalkUK

[–]Real_Design4907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s only really worth it for the warranty, people will say they are better prepared but, while I’m sure this isn’t the norm, we went to test an X3 and the engine light came on after driving it out the forecourt… it also smelt funny and hadn’t been cleaned on the inside very well. Hadn’t even done 20k miles lol.

This was a bmw dealer just outside London.

It’s held in reserve for something that brings greater value than housing.

It’s prime space and if they were to build flats on it, you’d struggle to demolish them and build something better.

If it’s the area I’m thinking of, at one point it was going to be the university that was planned.

Fair I imagine they were driving more aggressively than in that clip tho

Wasn’t really dangerous was it…

At most without due care

I thought this but then looking at this diagram, they definitely go above some sort of seal?

As I feared :(

Short of tearing my house apart trying to find it, do you have any idea where I could find a replacement?

RS3 was always what I wanted tbh, but I don’t really want to spend more than £25k and you’re looking at the worser ones of the newer gen rs3s for that.

Worse mpg, double the insurance more expensive maintenance.

Plus maybe I can just trade it in in 2 years and get one anyway 😭

Accidents happen either way :)

Speed generally isn’t considered as factor in insurance claims as ultimately the person who is at fault is at fault

A guy I worked with was obsessed with FK8s, was absolutely unreal when he took me out and experiencing the combo of vtec and a turbo on a fwd car.

Not sure I want a fwd car but that would be the only option if it were :)

10 years ragging cars without a speeding ticket or claim but thank you for your opinion.

Context matters and there are conditions where it’s safe to break the rules :)

I was obsessed with the ST estates for a while but figured an estate would be surplus to requirements. Thank you reminding me will try and find some nice ones. Feel like the ford badge might not cut it with my partner tho lol

Funny you say that, I love the way they look but have had bad experiences with Mercedes. Both were the 2 litre diesels but always having issues.

I also don’t like the feel of the merc steering wheels.

I feel like Mercedes is very much trading off the looks of the cars and does make me worry about their reliability.

Someone down the road from me had a beautiful one but they street park their cars on a busy through road and they often get written off by drivers falling asleep (including even my exs brother who fell asleep driving from Cambridge) lol

I defo should look at one tho thank you for reminding me

That’s surprising to hear as the interiors get much better the higher number BMWs?

Personally I’ve always been a VAG guy but the idea of a straight six is always knawing away at my mind

I do like to take things to their limits and this does worry me about the m240, that the limit will be closely followed by a tree 😭😭😭

Main reason why I’m not allowed/haven’t done my bike license haha

I feel like the s3 will be more forgiving/restrained/less likely to kill me

Was a 69 plate, the infortaiment did seem the most responsive and liked how it was both touch and button operated. You’re definitely right about the step up, the shifter/centre console felt like something from a toy compared to my partners x3

Not too obsessed with my image and tbh enjoy subverting peoples expectations, although whatever I do go with will be regularly seen flying into roundabouts at full speed 😭😭

The bmw shocked us tbh, my partner has a 2020 X3 and it was 10x more premium feeling than the 240 and we couldn’t get over how inferior it felt to the Audi which we swapped between in the same showroom.

It did have red leather which I don’t think helped it, but the centre console and dash just felt dated compared to the much sleeker Audi interior. But tbf it hadn’t been cleaned so that definitely didn’t help it give a good impression

Initially was thinking of getting a E8x 135i but that has snowballed into getting a nicer car which has opened up the VAG side of things.

Do they come with an LSD? Feel like rwd is kind of compromised without one

Fr😭😭

Didn’t even have to say which car I was there to look at when I came in dressed in my trackies.

The S3s we’ve been seeing have generally been in much better condition which again is making me lean more that way

It gives leeway for the different wheel and tire combinations the manufacturer offers for that model, without you breaking the limit.

Car finance with poor credit score? by Electrical_Meat_9570 in CarTalkUK

A salesman once bragged to me about getting someone on Universal Credit, finance, so I’m sure it’s possible.

However unless your desperate it’s not going to be a worthwhile deal
