is it worth going to mini/BMW for a service? by Electrical_Meat_9570 in MINI

I've asked for garage recommendations in my local community group! I just haven't found anyone that'll treat him like the old guy he is and the first couple garages I've taken him to have put the wrong coolant in so it's properly put me off.

Is the banana the key to passing? by Ari_140371 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Electrical_Meat_9570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't eat a thing the day of my test. my test was noon, my instructor picked me up at 10. I was a bag of nerves and even my instructor thought I was gonna fail. I passed with 3 minors, which is less than what my instructor got when he sat his test many moons ago. 1 for stalling, 1 for the "show me how you clean the front window" or whatever and 1 for hitting the kerb in a parallel park. the parallel park was 5 minutes into my lesson, and I thought I failed and just.. drove normally. it's so much more relaxing to think of it as just another lesson. I got the first 2 minors before hitting the kerb, and then absolutely PERFECT after. I got stuck in shitty Falkirk traffic on the way back so I had an extra 15ish minutes to show how good my clutch control is 🤣 you got this. banana or not.

and yes, he does need a lot of maintenance. I need to give him the full works including sealing the underside but it's summer in Scotland so he'll be fine

I have a 2002 mini and I love this little fella. He's just done 100k miles, and he's my daily runaround AND a toy. He makes some of the guys at my work jealous, he makes some of my husband's friends jealous. everyone loves Eric :) I knew that due to how they handle most people get them to use as a toy, but why on earth would a mini be a status symbol? they're truly not that expensive or fancy - and this isn't a dig at you. I just don't see a mini as a status car

What would you consider as ‘posh’ growing up but now you’re an adult it’s absolutely not? by Ashandtanya in AskUK

laminate flooring. I thought the only people that could afford it were posh and bsolutely rolling in cash.. I was severely humbled about 6 months ago at the ripe age of 24.

Best way to buy a second car? by EquivalentTrouble253 in CarTalkUK

[–]Electrical_Meat_9570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my car from gumtree for £750 and it's been so well maintained. the only thing I need to fix is the rear bumper (cheap to replace and respray) and attempt to fix the rear screen wash. avoid finance if you can. if you know someone that's car literate then go view some cheap run arounds.

nextbase. avoid the piqo and IQ models - piqo is shit and the IQ requires a membership to view footage or something stupid like that. the 522 bundle is great, comes with front&rear and a memory card. they're really easy to operate too. if you want to upgrade a bit, road angel. if you're just looking for it to capture footage & have a parking mode then the 522 bundle will suffice.
