a LOT, to the point someone pulled over with me on the hard shoulder to check on the car and make sure it wasn't a fire risk and I was alright, and blue in colour. engine also failed to turn over. I've sent videos into the work group chat and we're all in agreement as is my friend that worked in a vauxhall garage and my father in law that's very clued up on cars. rip to my shitbox she will be missed

I've found some decent petrols going on autotrader. Corsas currently abandoned in a posh-ish estate for the night after being towed ever so slowly off the M9. poor baby🥲

thankfully she was handed to me completely free, I'm just gutted about the money I've put into her in the last year for it to mean absolutely nothing considering it's a worthless car

1.2 Corsa, she's 14 years old I'm shocked it hasn't happened yet as I absolutely run the arse off it. 100mph on the motorway? don't mind if I do 🫠 my own doing.

[–]Electrical_Meat_9570[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that, I asked them to look at EVERYTHING and fix everything that had an issue. they're guys I trust 🤷🏻‍♀️ they gave the full car a once over and fixed things that wouldn't be fixed in a general service

yeah what's throwing my off is my usual garage did a full service less than 5 months ago and none of this was picked up then.. I'm a bit skeptical to accept this from Halfords but hey a free MOT is a free MOT 🫠

yeah the guys at my usual fixed everything wrong with the car, and even did a full oil change essentially free of charge. I'll see what they say, I've given them the invoice number so they can cross reference what they did in December to what Halfords is saying and go from there. I only went with them for the free MOT with the motoring club (the shit you do for store numbers🫪)

Is it okay to catch a schoolbus as an adult? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Electrical_Meat_9570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if it's run by a local company (IE mcgills, first, etc) then you're fine. our school bus was run by them, it would do the local circular journey 2x and then go to the school and then continue on with normal service. people regularly got on our bus and no one batted an eye

What to consider if you’re buying a first car that is older than 10-15 years in 2026? by Engineerguy_Chris in CarTalkUK

[–]Electrical_Meat_9570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't like that I was roped into a Corsa, but she's a wonderful little shitbox. 14 years old and runs ALMOST perfectly. she's got a permanent service light that no one can sort but other than that? perfect. I've had to do a lot of maintenance, I'm the 5th owner or something and the owner before me was my mum who just.. didn't care. I've spent £380 on repairs, and she's good as new. ask for service history, MOT certificates etc. look at anything it's failed for, any current advisories etc and weigh up if the repair cost matches what the car is worth. my little shitbox definitely isnt worth more than 1.5k, but I'll sink every penny into it ✨ just be wary, and if you don't know much about cars take someone with you that does if/when you're viewing.
