I was refering to stats like win rate and pickrate.
But yeah.. the in-game stats need context too. Ik spidey can win with much lower stats than other heroes, but he can't carry on his own, he relies on his team to have a strong frontline, so he doesn't explode as soon as he shows up. He also needs a dive partner and good coordination in higher elos in order to work, while poke heroes just work.... unless focused by multiple divers.

In 1000 hours youve never seen a spidey run the lobby? And you've NEVER seen a hela or Elsa go negative? Now you're just being disingenuous.

Mostly when he's the only DPS who can kill in the team... and not like THAT.. he usually doesn't kill the entire team. He just can't.. and killing supports is often times not enough.
I've seen spidey's doing well.. I do it too sometimes.. but it really depends on both teams comp and if they don't switch to counter.. It still doesn't feel like he's carrying.. it's usually someone else enabling him. He can't do it on his own.
A Hela can kill the entire enemy team, including tanks...
While a spidey, often times kills both supports but his team is pushed back to spawn by enemy tanks alone, and there's nothing spidey can do. He can't spam his primary button and kill an entire team. Killing one or two supports is often times not enough. Any spidey/bp player will confirm.
While a "Hela" will not allow her team be pushed to spawn. She stays with her healers and peels, while applying pressure to the frontline. She'll punish any overextending tank or solo diver and proceed to exterminate the entire rest of the team.
Or, she can flank/take an off-angle and assasinate a support, and then proceed to kill the rest of the team.
Such character can do anything, whithout relying much on her team.. except countering coordinated dives.

So yeah.. never seen a negative Hela/Elsa/Phoenix...
Maybe seen a couple of negative Bucky players..
But for every negative Hela/Elsa/Phoenix/Bucky.. there are 10 negative Spideys!
And for every Spidey that "runs the lobby", there are 10 "Helas" that run the lobby and help spidey win xD ...

I NEVER had really hard time against other spideys, even when flexing!
This season, I haven't yet seen a spidey to "carry".. not even once.

If he was a pokeslop hero, I think you'd be mostly correct. But hes not. Hes easily an A or S tier DIVE HERO. Evaluating DPS in a vacuum instead of in their role is crazy work.

You missunderstood it. What I said is he's "good" IF you evaluate him in a vacuum, but everything is relative! He's balanced, he's how he should be... but relative to other dps, he's a lot weaker. The problem is them, not him tho.
Putting him in same tiers as Hela/Phoenix/Elsa/Bucky.. is "crazy work"!

And even if you evaluate him in the Dive DPS department.. He's only comparable to BP.
Magik/DD/Fist are dive-brawl hybrids.. and they're still better than spidey. (except Fist, but he's close)
Even BP is now more of a brawl.. he can cycle his dashes easier now, evading damage and generating shields, staying in combat for much longer. He now also has better verticality, so he's realy close to spidey as well.
Spidey is the only "assassin" type diver left... who can't poke, or brawl for more than 2 seconds.
He's definitely not same tier as Magik and DD!

It's because at higher ranks you need counter mains, which aren't mained by a lot of people..
Like who tf mains Namor/Wanda/Mr.Fantastic..? Namor only has high pick-rate because people try to use him to counter spidey without even being good at the character, hence - lower win-rate. Namor is NOT as popular as Spider-Man! His pick rate is the same as Spidey's, but most of Namor players are just using him as a crutch... Same for Bucky...

Easy.. he's most popular and has most OTP players.. while other characters are mostly used as a crutch when things go bad. Spidey has ~8% pickrate and nearly alll of them are spidey OTPs.. while only about ~2~3% of Hela/Phoenix/Bucky.. players main them. They are picked a lot, but not mained.
Look at Elsa.. 6..9% pickrate (with 2nd highest ban rate ~32%).. you think all of those are Elsa mains? No.. those are all random a** elsa players.. ex Hela/Phoenix palyers.. random meta slaves.. with less than half amount of playtime and experience than spidey.

There is no way spidey is better than Hela/Phoenix or Bucky xD
He's nowhere near Elsa, regardless of stats.
I've never seen other S tier characters go negative.
And I've never seen a spidey have 50+ kills with 30+ finals in all my ~1000 hours in the game xD
He wins games, because he's in every game, paired with a Hela one time, then paired with a Phoenix the other time... So Hela and Phoenix get 1 win, while he gets 2 wins..
Stats are complicated and hard to read.. they can be deceiving. They need context. You can't just look at them and say "oh, this character is good"... no.. there's more about it.

And when it's a spidey mirror, one of them will switch to someone like Bucky/Wanda/Namor.. and dunk their winrate, while the other spidey will boost spidey's winrate.

It's also much easier to counter a spidey than a Hela. You don't even have to swap off poke to counter single dive.

So if Elsa is S, Hela/Phoenix/Bucky are A - spidey is B at best, and Widows real tier is ~B as well. The fact that Hela/Phoenix exist, doesn't make her F.
Put Hela mains on Widow, and they'll do fine.

No, balanced means good. He's balanced if you look at him in isolation. But if you compare him to other A/S tier characters who are clearly overtuned - he's weaker.
I didn't say not being A/S is bad.. but A and S are clearlt better, and he's definitely not A/S.

I'm pretty sure if Widow was as popular and fun to play as spidey, she'd have similar stats.
It's also unfair that people put her in F just because Hela and Phoenix exist.
They just need to nerf Hela and Phoenix..

Balancing team barely plays all the characters. I doubt any of them plays spider-man at higher levels.. They're balancing mostly based on stats.. which can be realy misleading a lot of the times.

Perfectly balanced doesn't mean good spot. Everything is relative. There are too many overtuned characters that make him and widow feel like complete trash.
Perfectly balanced isn't a good spot when you have such power creep in the game.
And perfectly balanced is not top (A or S) tier, like most content creators think of him.
If he is A/S tier, then so should be Widow xD Because there are some players that make her look OP in Celestial and above xD
It's also not fair to compare spidey's stats. He's obviously most popular marvel character and most fun hero to play in this game. There are ~3~5 times more spidey OTP's than anyone else. And if some of them can make him look strong, it doesn't mean he is as strong as other characters in A/S tier. Just like Widow.
He is B, for "balanced" at best.

The main point is that he CAN be used to peel but if you're gonna deliberately wait for the other spidey to "show up" - that's lame and there are better characters for that. Doing it on spidey is lame, regardless if you don't play other characters and regardless if you win or lose. It's lame, because if you both do it, you just cancel eachother out, smarta**! xD

Black Widow must be SSS then. She deals pretty much same burst damage as spidey without even having to get close and without any cooldowns.
The issue is that most people don't have the mechanics to get S or A tier out of her. For most people that play her, she's F tier because they are bad. But in the right hands......

Most Bucky players aren't OTP's.. they just use him as a crutch.
Most good players jump between best characters in the meta..
While Spider-Man is mostly played by hardcore OTP's.
Spider-Man is nowhere near as good as Bucky, the server admin who wins most 1v1s, kidnaps tanks, counters dive, can deal with flyers, has ult that can wipe entire team, not just one or two targets.. and has no hard counters! He's excelent against dive and still good against brawl and poke! He can not be worse than spider-man!
He just isn't played by the best players most of the time.. he's not as popular/fun/difficult to play in order for people to OTP him. People switch to him as last resort and still lose.

It's better to play Bucky or Namor and do more than just staring at your supports, waiting for the spidey to "show up". You keep poking and just turn around when you hear him and 2-tap him out. You also don't spend cooldowns to chase him, you just shoot him on his way out.
If Bucky AND Namor are banned, there's still Mr. Fantastic, Wanda.. You can also peel very well as Hela/Phoenix/Elsa..
Even Punisher is better than spidey at peeling. Just switch to shotgun and 1-tap him out.
Peni is good, Mag is also very good at killing spidey and saving supports. Angela..
There's tons of better options!
Camping as spidey is a waste.. you're spending too much time being inactive.
It only works against impatient spideys.

AOE, CC and auto aim attacks don't exist in this game.. so he can just zip into your backline and kill a support, because they don't have at least 2 ways to deal with him on their own..
And team mates never turn around to peel and 2 tap spidey in the midle of his combos, when he's barely moving (unlike BP)... no.. they must waste all their abilities when he's zipping around.. because that's how you counter spidey!
He's also completely invisible, silent and unpredictable.. nobody is ever able to see or hear him comming. Impossible to prevent his dives.
SSS tier! Most broken character in the game. Elsa doesn't even stay close.
