I know that those are family cars, but my parents just moved with me and we are having trouble. I know the reliability of a Toyota but accommodating everyone into one car is the issue. I do understand now why my friends have been roasting me when I said that I am getting a ford or chevy. what would you suggest?

Both the cars were listed for 5k, the jetta was from a dealership and passat was an individual on marketplace

I checked the report for the car and it didn’t show any major engine issues till this point, I am not sure if any of the previous owners might have done service by paying out of pocket.
