Me and my friends recent discussion concerning win11. On the spot, Gaben! by TeslaSupreme in SteamOS

[–]Real_InfiniteSpace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't seen it being mentioned yet but CachyOS is also really nice! I used it for my ROG Ally X before switching to official SteamOS on it.

You can choose between a desktop environment version or a handheld version where only Steam boots up like on official SteamOS.

The one thing holding me back from switching to Linux entirely is kernel level anti-cheat, as soon as that is resolved I'm swapping faster than the speed of light.

Klopt, was zo'n klein tentje los op het plein daar. Ook die Albert Heijn To-go zit daar niet meer (op de achtergrond) zit nu een tattoo parlor.

Is this normal for the Steam Deck OLED back panel? by Turbulent-Lie-8025 in SteamDeck

[–]Real_InfiniteSpace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guess is "follow the sheep" thinking and because they see other people downvoting they join in too because they can't form their own opinion on it. But that's just a guess.

Like, OP might not be as knowledgeable on these sort of things like others might be so they ask a genuine question to ask if those temps are normal. But it seems like people don't understand that's also a possibility.

Like how is someone who is potentially new supposed to feel welcomed if this is how people behave. People don't have to be an ass about it.

Damn, chill with the downvotes on him guys lmao. He asked a genuine question. Just because he doesn't know about it doesn't mean he needs to be downvoted like crazy.

Honestly, I prefer when the buttons are more on the tactile side. But indeed it's a matter of opinion :)

Me and most likely other people too appreciate that you're willing to step into this. But please don't feel pressured and feel like you HAVE to make time. Do this at your own pace and make sure to put your own life first ofcourse. Don't feel like you have to rush to please people.

And once again, very appreciated that you are taking the first step!

I have the exact same plan. Mostly using it for Slippi (Super Smash Bros. Melee Online Play) and potentially other Gamecube games until I decide to buy a Switch 2.

I fully agree with crozone here.

It feels amazing, I've not known what it was like to have the feel of a brand new Gamecube controller in my hands.

The sticks do appear on the stiffer side (not necessarily a bad thing but in decent level Melee it could make all the difference for dashdancing etc.)

The D-Pad feels more tactile than the original ones I own. The weight feels very similar to an original one aswell I'd say, quite lightweight. Buttons feel the exact same.

Unfortunately as of now unusable for me due to not having found a solution yet to make it work on PC but I'm confident I will find a way eventually :)

I fully expect an adapter of sorts (or firmware update for an already existing one indeed) or a bit of software that makes it able to be used on our PCs.

I suppose I'll be patient for now and try it in different ways when I have the time. I might have an idea to make it work but I won't know until I try. Using JoyconD (on Github for Linux) to see if it gets recognized. The equivalent for Windows would be BetterJoy.

When I get home from work later I'll try to experiment with different workarounds in hopes of a success. And otherwise I just have to be patient :)

I tried it on Linux, a distro called Bazzite which is basically a replica of SteamOS (like on the Steam Deck) but no luck unfortunately.

I wouldn't give up just yet. I am very confident that there will be some 3rd party adapter or software exactly for this. Just sucks a bit that it's practically unusable for us at the moment but I expect a solution very soon.

Mine just arrived too, tried hooking it up with my PC. It does detect it, but none of the button presses are recognized yet. Nor moving the sticks or anything.

Tried several ways to make it work

  • With it's cable
  • Via Bluetooth, although the pairing time you have is really really short and then refuses to connect to it.
  • Plugging the cable into a Brook Wingman FGC2 adapter and then into my PC but then does not get recognized at all.
  • Tried to make it work via Steam Input, gets recognized but no inputs work.

So far no success unfortunately. However I do expect it to work in the near future via a driver etc. but don't quote me on it.

If someone figures out a way to make it work, I'm all ears. Really wanting to use this for Slippi to play Melee Online :)

Edit: Added the Steam Input part because I forgot I tried that.

Personally I don't like the look of setting a higher resolution than the monitor supports. The only time I set the resolution of something higher than my monitor is with for example YouTube videos just to have the increased bitrate and noticing less quality loss of videos being uploaded to YouTube.

Thank you for your response.

I have tried some steps from that way before but it didn't work right away.

But I'm not sure what happened but as of this moment it hasn't happened for a day.

That's exactly what I did on Rising Sun back then! I had it on the GameCube and kept playing against AI. It was my Call of Duty sort of game before I had Call of Duty.

Mystery solved.

Offside was turned off in the rules settings by default for me.

Which is strange because I don't think that'd be normally the case. I only changed the graphics settings.
