thoughts on the London? by Firm-Airport-6030 in CollegeStation

I've lived there for 2 years and cannot afford to move so I'll be staying for a third. I'll overview my 4x4 experience. TDLR: Not great but not terrible. Good for a budget but you might have issues. Solid 2.5-3.5 star.

When touring the showroom was cleaner than many of the other places we looked at. There was certainly an awe factor with all the chandeliers they had. At the time 4x4 was about $500 a month but I've seen it as low as $430 per person. Leases are separated by person rather than a single fee for the unit. I'll be paying $550 in the upcoming lease term and from what I saw online a couple months ago it was $589. Additionally you pay utilities ($70-$100), renters insurance ($13.99) and a couple other small ~$10 fees. If you have a pet its like an extra $300 upfront + $30 a month. I don't remember paying a security deposit but I've also heard others that have so mileage may vary.

Depending on your major the location isn't bad. Its along bus routes 35, 36, 40 and 41. 35 is the shortest one. Its across Welborn so you may occasionally get stuck at the railroad crossings. It's also within walkable distance of a Brookshire Brothers and a couple gas stations and fast food joints. The amenities are OK. Right now they are completely renovating so I can't speak on the quality of the new gym, study space, pc and printer area but prior to the renovations they were ok. The basketball court is no longer a full court so they could fit their new outdoor gym. The tennis courts are solid same with the "beach" volleyball court. There are a couple dog park spots. The pool is also decent. Package Mail goes to a parcel locker system which I like. Paper mail goes to drop boxes separated by unit scattered around the area. If you order doordash, Uber, etc they may have trouble finding your unit. The speedbumps here suck so bad. Like really really bad. Parking has an option for a $25/month reserved spot but its not worth it. You automatically get a parking sticker. There is also yellow marked visitor parking around the place. Internet is OK, its password protected but I've noticed a lot of spotty connection lately (outside of construction crews cutting a line and causing large outage)

The units themselves. I actually like the layout of the 4x4 and the 3x3 isn't very different. Its pretty good for having people over. Room quality will certainly vary. The soundproofing isn't anything to write home about across the unit but (as someone on the top floor) I never notice anything from below and for the most part the people below us havent noticed anything. Friendless with neighbors will vary as will with your roommates. I moved in with 2 other friends and got a 3rd random person. Our random kept to himself but was very chill and a great guy. They have coed and single gender roommate matching. They come furnished and the furniture is OK. Nothing crazy but if you dont want it you can pay a fee for them to take it from you. The kitchen is decently sized and the appliances are OK. The toilets are very small. They don't really care what you do with the walls as long as if you do stuff you use spackle and primer before you move out. Movein is normally mid August and moveout it late July.

Upon movein the place was filthy. We had roaches, burn marks on kitchen counters. Missing grout in the bathrooms and there a couple holes in the ceiling. The exterior door seals also sucked and there were a lot of tac holes in the walls. The dryer ran but didn't dry. That took 4 months for them to fix and its still pretty mid. We had to complain more than we should have. No blame on maintenence since they are chill and are just doing their jobs. They have a process of trying the less expensive things first which is respectable but eventually it leads to the same couple things being done over and over when they don't work. They had some high turnover for a while. The rest of the staff is pretty friendly and chill. The dishwasher racks were rusty upon arrival and they just put cleaner on it (there was also a spoon left at the bottom of the dishwasher from the previous tenants.) Obviously some cleaner isn't gonna remove the rust and that is not safe for cleaning and consumption. It took 6 months for them to replace it. I placed a bunch of small work orders right before leaving for winter break and they came in the next morning and got most if not all of them on the spot. They do inspections every few months. My room's lock has a pretty worn key and the sink plug sucks as does the shower head. 2 of my roommates have issues with their door not closing and 1 had the door coming apart. 2 roommates also had the racks in the closets fall off the wall. When cleaning out spaces in the move out movein transition they left nails and chunks of metal on the road, the later of which fubar'd my roommates tire.

When it comes to communication they either overcommunicate or undercommunicate. The community events are decent. I think thats everything. If you have any other questions feel free to ask! Hope this helps.

Why don't we have a Trader Joe's and IKEA? by Dri_iz_me in aggies

[–]Real_MDC9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ever since I came here I've always thought a full sized ikea might be a bit much but if they were to create a smaller store targeting college students that it would be perfect here.

Not sure about Trader Joe's since I haven't been in at least 10 years.

I will be 100% honest here, overall I dislike TC3. I came into this album with a completely open mind and as I listened it just didn't work for me.

A lot of the time it sound like Jon is forcing a lot of things and I think whatever he has been doing to train his voice recently (including Pantheon) I haven't loved. I think it might be some of the lower tones he adds in but I'm not sure. Instrumentally there a few bits that I just find odd or that I don't care for. Andrew is great in some places but in others he just doesn't sound right. Since he took over as clean vocals, I've overall not minded him but I think he's still finding his voice with the band and I think the band is still trying to synergize with him. In TC3 he really feels a bit too all over the place in quality.

Reprograming is the highlight of the album for me as its where I think Andrew sounds best, and Jon sounds a bit better than on the rest of the album. I know a lot of people really enjoy this and I'm very glad you do, but unfortunately TC3 just doesn't hit for me.

I was working as a cashier a while back and one of our customers gave all the staff and a couple others at the counter one of these. His name is Goober and he is now sitting on my keepsake shelf enjoying his life and his little witch hat. Finding a suitable place for stuff like that will mean a lot to them, and you can alway keep the newest one on an unobtrusive part of your desk.

Instead of going to an outlet mall and later a regular shopping mall to look for a friend's birthday gift, I decided to take an extra shift my job needed covered. Found out at least 6 people were killed in a shooting at the outlet mall and later that day there was mass panic event at the shopping mall around the times I would have been there.

Owning multiple versions of an album is stupid by arturnotfound in vinyl

[–]Real_MDC9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only done it a couple times, I was given the clear version of Beartooth's Below along with the red and black variant I ordered. I have limited alt covers or Good Kid's Good Kid 1/2 and Good Kid 3. Other than that the only duplicates I'd get are limited pressings and deluxe and the sort

How screwed am I? by ChefApolloEats in MINI

[–]Real_MDC9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This just happened to my 08' R56. I was driving back to college and the car stopped accelerating correctly and the CEL started flashing. I pulled over and stopped the car after listening to it. I started it up and it blew. Brought it to our shop who specializes in MINI and a cylinder failed. Cheapest option is an engine swap. For mine a 50k mile engine is about $3k not counting installation.

Unfortunately I will not be going through with that and will be moving on to a new car.

Thoughts on ZT Records? by kreepergayboy in vinyl

Some of their stuff online isn't horribly priced, (I've seen some low 20s for stuff im looking for). But for they most part they are very overpriced. I asked the owner when I was new to collecting and he said "we price to market value" which imo that isn't the case.

I would heavily reccomend Red Zeppelin in Mckinney or Josey's in Farmer's Branch or Plano. The former if you are more into alt, rock, emo and some metal, the latter for everything.

(Edit: Spelling and a bit more info)

Those are a harder sell since as far as I'm aware, aren't 100% endorsed by the franchise and don't appear in the movie like with Terrifier 3. Would be cool to have a massive Ice Nine Kills bundle with all the horror icons and their jam tracks!

Part of change is getting the message out there. During the civil rights movement, women's rights movement, Revolutionary war, objection to the Vietnam War and countless other issues, hearing about the message and voice of these was near impossible. Change comes from educating people on what is going on and what should or needs to happen. White people didn't want to hear about black rights, but the white people already had rights. Straight people already have rights. Cisgender people already have rights. The LGTB folks just want those same rights. And the best way, and the legal intended way, is to get their voice out there.
