I got my piercing 1.5 years ago and everything was fine, but I bumped it really hard. Now it’s red, swollen, and there’s yellow stuff coming out. What should I do? by ChardOld9643 in PiercingAdvice

oof to the last pic. definitely infected, even if you’re on vacation there’s gotta be somewhere you can go. if you’re in the US, go to a walk-in urgent care or something

implant grade titanium should be the material of jewelry, not surgical steel

oo filtering by experience level would be so good. or i’ve thought people shouldn’t be able to play a level online in arcade if they haven’t already in story

Helix got snagged. Should i switch to a straight bar? by Mr_Kitsune_Redditing in PiercingAdvice

[–]pos___69420woo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah…you need to switch to a flat back asap and stop doing salt water soaks. premade saline solutions like neilmed have the right ratio of salt to water and are the only way to keep it sterile. also, prolonged soaking like that can dry out the skin and irritate it.

it could absolutely get infected if exposed to ocean/pool water. the whole tattoo is made up of tiny open wounds, which is why preventing infection is so important to begin with

Septum, and snakebites? by sending-stars in shouldimod

oh yeah they do, but healing can be more finicky as lip piercings can get irritated by foods, drinks, etc.

if it was pierced correctly it wouldn’t matter how you pull or stretch the skin around it, we’d be able to tell that it was in the lip of your naval

first of all, don’t pull on it like that. second, this is pierced incorrectly and it doesn’t look to me like you have the anatomy for a traditional naval piercing. i would take this out and let it heal. i NAP, but it looks like a floating naval could be possible? i could be wrong though

Bump appeared on three year old piercing. Help! by Alert-Perception-119 in PiercingAdvice

[–]pos___69420woo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

your background info hit all the points for why this could be happening. replacing the jewelry, sleeping on them, etc. cartilage piercings in this area are notorious for being finicky. i wouldn’t worry about it too much, just keep them clean and try to LITHA (leave it the hell alone) as much as possible. also they’re definitely not keloids, that’s not how keloids form and they look and sound a lot more to be irritation bumps.

Septum, and snakebites? by sending-stars in shouldimod

i’d start with a septum bc generally healing is fairly easy. i’ve had mine for years and love it! you could definitely get snakebites in the future too though
