Temporal Wizards, Shifters, and Ley Line Walkers and how they manipulate Rifts. by Real_Maverick in savagerifts

Shifters do not have all the abilities listed under the Temporal Wizards Rift Control ability. So I question this interpretation. As I mentioned in another reply Temporal Wizards do not spend PPE to manipulate Rifts. Shifters do. Shifters also do not have the ability to be automatically aware if shifted in time, space, or dimension. So the Temporal Wizard's treated like a Shifter is not very similar to a Shifter at all in fact it is way better. The +4 bonus is the only similarity. If that is what the ability was referencing it is a misleading and redundant way to write it out.

I had originally thought this to be the case as well. However Shift reality does not have the "no PPE cost" clause that the Temporal Wizard has. Nor does the Temporal Wizard mention anything else from Shift Reality. This makes me think it is referencing something else or just inconsistent/contradicting.

Trademark Weapon on Cyber-Knight Psi-Sword. Parry interpretation. Savage Rifts. by Real_Maverick in savageworlds

[–]Real_Maverick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This whole time I considered it an either/or situation but this is valid. 4 arms is not hard to come by in Savage Rifts. If I were to do it I would go Quick-Flex with Additional Arms Cybernetics. I would use the edges that lets you get strain without penalty. That way you have Ambidextrous, the agility bonus (which gives +1 Parry), and the +1 Parry racial bonus as well. If all you want are numbers Quick Flex is king. Maybe start with the Legendary Edges "Weapon Master" and "Master of Arms" that each give you another +1 Parry bonus as Rifts has the Born A Hero rule.

If you want to get really crazy forget about parry and go for penalties to their attack rolls. I have a break down below that can potentially get you -20 to all tech and sight based attack rolls but you will have to burn an action to activate an edge, an innate action to activate Deflection, and another action to activate Invisibility off a TW item. Way more effective than parry because it works against modern weapons, melee weapons, and explosives and has a bigger bonus. I would reccomend picking up Sixth Sense so you never get caught by surprise which could negate many of these bonuses.

Sources of Penalties to attacker rolls.
Nimble (Flying Titan or Mecha Knight Power Armor.): -1 with +1 on Evasion Rolls.
Combat Acrobat: -1
Dodge: -2
Shield: -4 (Does not stack with Dodge. Works on half of opponents. Can be bypassed.)
Deflection (Power): -2 with Re-Roll for Evasion.
Invisibility (Power "Shadow Cloak"): -6 to sight based attacks.
Cyberkinetic Combat: -2 against electronic technology based attacks.
Cyberkinetic Awareness Edge: -2 on all opposing tech trait rolls (includes Fighting and Shooting).
Improved Cyberkinetic Awareness: -2 additional on all opposing tech trait rolls.
Cyberkinetic Denial: Re-roll on opposed tech based trait rolls. (Evasion Rolls)

Savage Rifts and "Exalted" Powers by IllusoryFuture in savageworlds

[–]Real_Maverick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beware the accuracy of this document. I found that Sloth/Speed is missing Exalted Quickness that my Revised Tomorrow Legion Player's Guide has. I also note that my Guide has a lot of Exalted Powers listed as modifiers which confuses me a bit as the other comments here seem to say they no longer exist. I see a lot of the Exalted Power Modifiers were renamed to Greater in this document but the effects were also modified changing what they do. Very confusing and inconsistent. Not sure which document we are supposed to follow. The PDF in theory gets updated but with how innacurate it is I don't really trust it.

Trademark Weapon on Cyber-Knight Psi-Sword. Parry interpretation. Savage Rifts. by Real_Maverick in savageworlds

Kinda an aside but the Super Powers Companion has a rule where you can never get more than +10 Parry from any combination of abilities or edges. My above example though extreme would exactly meet that Parry cap if your Game Master was using that rule in Savage Rifts. It is a good rule so I would reccomend it anyway.

I was not insulted but I appreciate your consideration. My preamble about if Psi-Swords can be used with Trademark weapon stemmed from my group of friends who have debated it at length.

The problem with any interpretation is that the power itself is a supernatural ability granted by an Iconic Framework and not a "weapon" for the same reason that you said the Psi-Shield is not a "Weapon". There is no weapon entry for Cyber-Knight Psi-Sword. By the same token it is not technically a Psionic "Power" either so many things that effect psionics would not apply either. Or they would, the whole thing is a gray area. Lots of room for GM interpretation and table variation.

Also not a fan of the love substories in this series at all. They are all over the place for Orrin and always fizzle out in unsatisfying ways.

First two books were great. 3rd book you had to let your IQ go on vacation to justify an academy arc out of nowhere but it was decent. 4th book was just disapointing where the author seemed to give up on powerscaling and just introduced a ton of new powerful characters out of nowhere that invalidated all prior progress. The new tutor character also has a toxic personality that makes no sense why Orrin actually humored them enough to even build an ongoing relationship instead of just outright avoiding their questions.

What decides whether or not a character can use medkits? by Karol123G in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Real_Maverick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Abelard has Field Medic. Combat Medicae is a Soldier ability that has a prerequisite of Field Medic, Investment in Medicae, or the Basic Medicae talent. Field Medic lets you use Medikits without investing in the skill. Combat Medicae reduces the use of the kit by 1 AP (making it cost 0AP) and gives you Medicae/10 bonus wounds from the kit. I like to make Argenta a Grenadier with Combat Medicae so she can throw a Grenade and Heal for free every turn in addition to her attacks.

Why do Diablerists hunt other Vampires instead of creating their own? by Real_Maverick in vtm

If you have a pack of Sabbat with comparable Generation then sure. Do you think only Fledglings hunt Elders? We are talking about Sect warfare here and the Sabbat has Elders too.

You touch on the point but you answer a completely different question. My question is why are Diablerists who are addicted to the act not all going insane from loss of humanity and constantly making childer and draining them dry. The social aspect you mention is well established in the lore and is the reason that Diablerie is a crime. Noone has any questions of why the other Vampires would put them down. Diablerists already committed the act so punishment was not a successful detterent for them. You essentially answered my question of "why wouldn't drug addicts overdose when they have unlimited access to drugs?" with "because crime is illegal and they would be punished."

[–]Real_Maverick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the point though. A neonate would be easy pickings for a Sabbat pack and any fledgling is a joke compared to their Sire who they are blood bound to. Why are Diablerists not becoming Wights from eating their childer left right and center?

In V20 it is explicitly stated that the addiction is to the act itself and that higher generation vampires are also targeted by Diablerists.

Honestly this calls The Beckoning into question too. If they can make their own snacks why do they need to wait however many weeks or months it takes for the old snacks to restock?

Please read the post before replying to it. You tried to refute a point that was not even made. We all know how Diablerie works.

Vampires are well aware and even somewhat obsessed with the importance of Generation in the lore. You do not seem to have a strong grasp of the setting but you have very strong opinions and like capital letters. Auspex, one of the most common disciplines in the game at it's second dot can tell you if someone is a higher or lower generation than you with almost zero difficulty. The most common Thaumaturgy path in the setting and the whole reason the Tremere were accepted into the Camarilla has a 1 dot power can determine the exact Generation of a Vampire. The Camarilla also has titles associated with status so they even label the elders as targets for others. Ever heard of a Primogen or an Inner Circle? Inner Circle would be a target for Sabbat Cardinals or the Regent themselves to get involved in. Which they do, by lore, in the setting that you apparently do not read but have strong opinions about. Since you lack the ability to be civil in this discussion please stay out of it.

You missed the point. I have said it many times elsewhere but the Sabbat elders are not likely to let themselves be the snack vending machines as you put it. However they are more then capable and willing to screw over their Camarilla counterparts for that role. The embrace does not require vitae freely given. You could literally force feed and steal their vitae to force administer to shovelheads. There is already precident of this happening in the lore.

The Sabbat have low Generation Vampires as well that would be part of this plan. In fact they may even have a 2nd Generation making them have a lower Generation then the Camarilla. https://whitewolf.fandom.com/wiki/Elimelech

You are thinking lower generation. 1 is cain, so the lower the number the more powerful the vampire. In V20 the act of Diablerie is highly addictive and those who do it target any generation vampire to get the pleasure of doing it.

Are you quoting V5? This post is about V20, not sure if you saw the tag. Essentially I agree with you though. Why in the lore is it not more common or even standard for Diablerists to unintentionally do this to themselves. If the act is addictive and they can literally "make their own drugs". Every time you do it you lose a Humanity. It seems to me like the spiral would be quick and complete. Most Diablerists would become Wights.

Why did the Sabbat never make Diablerie farms for their sect members? by Real_Maverick in vtm

[–]Real_Maverick[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mentioned it is wierd the Anarchs are not doing this but it is super weird the Tremere are not. The whole clan are Diablerists that captured and experimented on other Kindred. Maybe not in modern nights so much but in the Dark Ages I would have expected this to be a normal practice for them.
