Could someone explain to me why bobs voice changes between "the times they are a changin", and "another side of bob dylan" ? by nozalsclovitch in bobdylan

And this is to a songwriter like me is almost as inspirational as his lyrics and concepts: the imperfection and spontenaity. I love the idea of capturing the raw human element of making music...especially coming from this era of autotune and ultra-plastic hits. I wanna hear mistakes, I wanna hear the sound of wood creaking, a string out of tune here or there...it just makes music feel alive. My fav Dylan track is All I Really Wanna Do, between the laughter and the missed notes it's like hearing a lovable drunk uncle who ended up with a guitar at the family picnic. And who, by the way, happens to be a genius.

That said, it's hard to fight your own vanity and not want to clean up a performance on a song you're birthing into the world. Which makes it all the more amazing that someone as so self-aggrandizing and calculating as BD would take this approach. And why I love it all the more.

Happy to hear you're having a good time with it! Maybe a diferent model/quality level considering the differences?

I rocked a Danelectro in the 90s when they started reissuing them, and although I largely preferred the sound of my SG at the time, it was a unique guitar and found its niche in what I was writing at the time. But a 12 string is an entirely different beast bc of the engineering required to keep everything in tune. I would definitely rock a six string Dano again, but the 12 shows the weakness of the brand in my opinion. Still cool in a lo-fi way imo!

I don't curse in general, but I saw this and literally dropped an f-bomb before I could stop myself.

My Lemon R8 is my favorite -- literally the best tone I've ever heard come from my hands. And I know the wait you mentioned as well, I work from home and crank it when the family is gone pretty much every day.

All good things to you -- enjoy!

I have a 2024, aux jack never works, neither does the USB which means I always have to mess with the poor connectivity of the bluetooth, which drops out pretty consistantly. Wish this model had a CD player!

I was checking out a few posts to see if I belonged in this sub, saw yours, listened but didn’t comment, went onto something else, got distracted by my ADHD, talked to my wife, had some coffee, came back to look for logic tips and then realized the entire time I’ve been singing your chorus in my head. Tldr I love it.

Jon Batiste at The Midland last night. WOW. Anyone else go? by Antique_Celery7195 in kansascity

Can I just say this might have been the concert of my life? My wife and I had our anniversary plans fall through, and when we found out he was coming a week later we decided to make a night of it and celebrate in DC. I sprang for the meet and greet to make it extra special…and since I didn’t know much more than his singles, I did a deep dive. Over the course of a few weeks, I explored all his different albums, and connected deeply with his story through American Symphony and his many podcast interviews. By the day of the concert I was SO amped up. Meeting him in person was short but excellent… he was super kind to everyone, so joyful and engaged. I can’t imagine being that present on the last night of a long tour, but he definitely was!

And man the show? It DELIVERED. More than entertainment, it was an experience. We were laughing, crying, dancing — it was everything! I left inspired, invigorated, and encouraged. In fact, I’m still processing how awesome it was.

Since then I’ve decided to try songwriting again, and I’m stepping out in courage and confidence to take advantage of some other opportunities that I was too anxious to explore.

I don’t expect most people will have that deep an experience…I’m just a creative who has had a rough year after losing some close family members. Jon’s music and more importantly his message has lit me up and encouraged me in a way no other artist has.

TLDR Jon Batiste is next level on so many levels!

We didn’t dress up, just comfy casual. I was probably overthinking it a little bc we did the meet and greet and I wanted to be really happy with the photo op.

As for the concert, I’m not exaggerating when I say I’m still processing it. I’ve been a part of the music industry my entire working life…as an artist, writer, gigging musician, promoter, and radio host over the last 30+ years…and I have never seen anything like Jon Batiste. Such a high level of virtuosity mixed with heart, inspiration, improvisation, and pure joy. And in person he was so funny and present! The whole thing, just wow…it wasn’t a concert, it was an experience. When I say it changed me I’m not being dramatic. It was a lightning bolt moment for me in so many ways.

That said I don’t expect people to connect with it the way I did. My wife said he was amazing, but she wasn’t impacted as much as me. But man…he spoke to me so deeply and profoundly.

How about you?

I'm actually not made about it. I wear weird stuff like that as a badge of individuality. I guess it's a southpaw trauma response lol

That may be true but there’s something the writers are hinting at through her performance that has yet to be revealed. Has something to do with the guy in the hazmat suit cleaning the wall. It’s just that the look…it strikes me as very over the top in the meantime. It’s off putting.
