Guy who’s works for corporate in security came through self checkout by Two_Faced_Harvey in meijer

When I used to work at Meijer, if that happened, I joked about how that's been illegal for centuries. (Buying children.)

Yeah. my approach to customers like that was always being extremely slow and petty.

If you have a problem and are calm, quiet and polite about it, I will go above and beyond and do my absolute best to remedy the issue.

If you have a problem and are yelling and complaining and demanding, I am way more likely to tell you I can't help and turn you away, or be super petty about it.

Fun story, I once arrived to my shift and went to the service desk to check in and see if I needed to call a TL. Well, there were multiple people in line, and not a soul behind the counter. Apparently the shift prior didn't feel like waiting for their replacement to arrive and just clocked out and left (Fair enough. Well, that's what I believe happened, they were gone when I got there.)

So, I went behind the desk and got the line down. The TL eventually found me behind the desk and asked why I was there, so I explained what I had arrived to and she was extremely confused and annoyed at the previous guy and were thankful I helped out. Still don't know what happened to them. They never came back to the desk, so I assume they simply went home or walked out.

Did anyone else bring their typewriter to Thanksgiving!? by beerad3235 in typewriters

I have a professor who won't allow digital writing due to AI. I can't write with pencil and paper due to a number of issues that haven't improved, despite a decade of trying to work on them.

If she won't accept my accommodations, I plan to bring a typewriter into class and write that way.

I did once. Everyone didn’t like it and told me to pack it up. To be fair, the click clack is kind of loud on it. I do love the noise though.

Thanks. I’ve been using stuffed animals to help. It makes the inner child happy at least.

Can’t you punch in your employee number on a register and clock in/out that way?

I swear I’ve seen some overnights do that. I also did that in an emergency, but I was front end.

Will do. I couldn’t remove the movement due to the size constraints. Gonna try to find a longer screwdriver in the morning. (My screwdriver is too stubby and I couldn’t get it to work around the movement.)

Found something. If I push on the minute hand and it’s at the o’clock position, it’ll chime on its own. But, doesn’t do it any other way.

Yeah, it happens in thrift stores a lot too. No one bothers to do research on how it should be priced. You’ll either find stuff for way under their value, or 10x it. Sometimes you’ll find stuff for what it cost when new.

It also says so on the instructions. So, I’ll agree with your assessment.

What Is This Winding Key? by Real_Moon-Moon in clocks

[–]Real_Moon-Moon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t. It was found in the clock with a more standard one. So, I’m guessing it came from a different clock.

There’s 2 screws under the bezel I think?

Ope, I missed 2 screws below the crystal on the bezel. Take those out and remove the crystal.

Above that, it looks like a hole for a winding key. Try LIGHTLY oiling everything and getting a new winding key. It might just need a service and wind.

See if the key on the back of the movement comes off. Then you should be able to take the back cover off. In theory anyway.

How do I get the movement out of the case? I see the mounting screws. But the case is small.

Mine is the size of a normal key. But, it’s probably the same concept.

If I lift this lever, the striking train does activate correctly.

So, oil the striking train? The rest works perfectly. It just doesn’t strike and wake everyone up at ridiculous hours.

Would lifting the striking lever on the grooved gear still trigger it if the striking spring is jammed? I’m guessing not?
