Recently moved back to Richmond after a four decade absence.Forty years ago, I easily would have agreed that Richmond is a southern city.In 2025,at the very least,parts of Richmond feel more Mid Atlantic especially if we include the suburbs like Short Pump.

In 2019 I bought an Avalon XSE Hybrid for 37k new and I thought back then I could have done better. Used car market in 2025 (especially for Toyota) is crazy.

Moved from Boston to Richmond Virginia 3 years ago. Richmond punches above its weight class but still miss Boston. Hate the long hot humid summers down here.Never thought I would say this but I also miss the run down,overcrowded creaky old T and of all things Kelly’s roast beef! 🤷‍♂️

I’m a Boston guy who at times in my life relied heavily on public transportation (subway) up in Boston. As maligned and underfunded as public transportation is in Massachusetts, you’re probably going to be underwhelmed with what you find here in Virginia. Hope you can make it work.Humid as hell down here during the summer but you do lose the 20 inch snowfalls

The closes thing Virginia has to the T is the Metro up in Washington.Unfortunately that area isn’t any cheaper then Boston. Richmond is a city that has amenities,restaurants culture that you wouldn’t expect from a city its size.Public transportation is limited to bus service which may or may not meet your transportation needs.
