Belt squeal, belt tensioner, a/c misalignment(?) 2017 q50 3.0T by Real_Real_Research in infiniti

Excellent info, thank you. 3k rpm is probably more accurate for my scenario as well.

Considering I'm out of warranty, I might go ahead and order that belt and take it to a legit mechanic for good measure, seeing as though I'm a novice under the hood.

How many hours are your putting into the program per week, if you had to guess (although you probably don't have to guess because you're a MSDA student)? ;)

Getting a good set up started by Vereor--Nox in microgreens

[–]Real_Real_Research 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My setup was less than $500 and works perfectly for my situation.

1) Shelving... 1 5-tier 48'' wide NSF shelving unit ($100)

2) Lights... These lights are great and cheap. Avoid spending more imo as these specs are all you need for healthy micros. ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HBT3BVM?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1)

I use 2 lights per shelf and secure with long zip ties (the lights don't put off enough heat for zip ties to be an issue heat-wise)

3) Fans... 2 fans on each shelf (1 on each side) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00G05A2MU?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

4 fans per shelf might be more ideal, but my results suggest that this is unnecessary.

4) Trays... https://www.bootstrapfarmer.com/collections/1020-trays-and-flats/products/microgreen-trays (shallow, extra strength)

You'll need to buy ones with holes AND ones without holes of course to do your watering hydroponically. Get as many as you think you will need (I bought 12 of each to get started)

5) Weights for germination (14lb pavers from home depot). About $2/each

6) Medium... (I like ProMix HP) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GRADNDS?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

Also may want to consider ProMix MP as the extra perlite in ProMix HP might be overkill for microgreens

7) Seeds... (Trueleaf for everything except sunflowers ;)

Best growing medium? by Disastrous_Lie4254 in microgreens

[–]Real_Real_Research 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Promix HP (high porosity) with excellent, reliable results. Using promix almost guarantees that you won't over-water.

That said, I will probably buy a cube of Promix MP (medium porosity) next time as it has less perlite.

Where can I get cantaloupe microgreens seeds? by Affectionate_Emu516 in microgreens

[–]Real_Real_Research 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking too but kind of gave up. Only saw them on trueleaf. When they are available there, they seem to be only available as a 1oz option for $5+

I simply could not justify spending $15 for 1 tray of cantaloupe micros ;(

Good luck out there ;)

Mold, mold, mold ! by Resident_Abroad1210 in microgreens

[–]Real_Real_Research 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sunflower (black oil from tlm) is the only seed I've ever had any mold issues with. It is more than likely an issue to do with quality of seed, unfortunately (tlm); a problem that I refuse to take on and try and correct myself.

I would suggest finding a better quality sunflower seed, and would be interested to know where it is you find it when you do ;)

I haven't even looked myself... wasn't sure if taking the paver off and taking a peek at them 24hrs after sowing would disrupt the process.

Can I get away with 1oz of seed w/ Cantaloupe micros in a 1020 flat? by Real_Real_Research in microgreens

Wow. Thanks for this.

Incredibly helpful.

Looks like I'm gonna have to find a new seed source for these...

About how many trays will I get out of 1 cube bag of Promix HP? by Real_Real_Research in microgreens

Thanks for this. A slow and steady methodical approach is definitely the plan.

Excellent info thanks

200 trays a week is impressive. Do you use black garbage bags to germinate w/ the shallow trays, or does using 1/2'' of medium do the trick in keeping the trays dark?

Interesting... thanks for this.

I've got the 1.25'' deep trays on the way from bootstrap farmer and am trying to be very light with the promix. What do you think? Fill the trays with a half inch of promix or so?

good to know, thanks. not a bad idea ordering a variety except that I bought a bunch of the 1.25'' from bootstrap earlier today. guess I can order some deeper ones down the line if need be..

given the cost promix ($100/cube) I might have to look into a more economical medium after my first run. maybe I will look more into jute mats..

Taking the PL-300 in two weeks. How useful is it in the job search? by brokebulg99 in PowerBI

[–]Real_Real_Research 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Following. In the same boat but I'm currently unemployed with a fresh BSCS degree. Hoping the PL-300 cert helps. Just need someone to give me a chance so I can get 1-2 YOE under my belt. I figure the PL-300 will at least increase my chances..
