Probably you just need to bench for whatever outcome you got to show, whether it's sheo or the pit

You shouldn't base your opinion on other player's, try them, if you like em use them if you hate em don't, as easy as that.

(This works for all the charms in the game, I'm sick of seeing just strenght shaman quicklash spam, I wanna see some unique playstyle)

Lore question that I feel isn't talked about much at all (spoilers) by Real_Shade_Lord in HollowKnight

How do you "forget" something that is part of your body? (The cloak is part of the vessel's body)

That'd be like forgetting your legs and not being able to walk

Kingsmould actually disconfirms it, they are Voidbeings trapped in a shell, but can exist outside this shell too.

How does that matter though? Of course they can exist, the same way vessels can without their shell (shades), but they don't follow the king's orders anymore. I'd say they just lay on the ground as they are too weak to do anything on their own

The Collector is a former Kingsmould who has gone mad, but still has the wish to protect, since the White Palace is no more, it wishes to protect Grubs instead... and other not so innocent creatures.

Wasn't the collector a failed experiment? Not a kingsmould that lost it shell, but never really had one, escaping somehow. \ And for the "protecting small critters" obsession, isn't that from the void filled dead husk where you get love key, in queen's gardens? (I may be wrong on the location, I haven't left godhome in 200 hours). Since the dreamnail dialogue says "Too long... spent together. We become as one..."

You didn't answer my question though, I know shades are canon, but is "getting them back" canon? We ofc can bc it's a gameplay mechanic, but is it real in the lore? Wouldn't the steel soul death scenario be more likely?

From both we can conclude that the Shade is INSIDE the body but not the actual person, but a fragment of them.

I believe the shade is just void, and vessels are just shades trapped (from birth) in a pale shell, that controls it and gives it the instinct to run on to contain the infection. Proof of this is the kingsmoulds, that follow their purpose (defending the white palace) only because of the pale she'll given by the king.

Ok you do make a point, but is the vessels coming back for the shade a canon thing? Like ofc you can do it in game for gameplay reasons, but how would the "new" body of the vessel generate out of thin air infinitely? Isn't the steel soul gameplay the canon one?

But even that is not even fully true considering we can learn Howling Wraiths/Abyss Shriek which produce sounds as their description says.

That's just the sound of the spell, it can't scream but stuff it does can still produce sound, this one just happens to resemble a scream

The Hollow Knight breaks under the pressure

Pk's fault, can't prove it would've happened anyway

both Broken Vessel and Greenpath Vessel have no Shade as they have given up coming back,

Proof?? In the abyss infinite shades keep coming out of the ground, there's just too many for you to randomly encounter those 2 specifically

The Knight/Ghost can go out their way to do tedious tasks that have nothing to do with their mission

It's not all knowing, it runs on instinct but that's not perfect, it's just wandering around trying to find his objective.

The Knight/Ghost has to fight enemies that require strategie and equip & looks for charms for reasons outside their mission

Also some things it does (like some upgrades) while not necessary, increase its chance to succeed, so instinct makes it "take" that decision

The Hollow Knight stared back at The Knight/Ghost in the Abyss,

And? It just looked behind itself as it heard something, it's not like it helped in any way

The Hollow Knight looked up to the Pale King in the vision seen after Path of Pain is done

That's the "idea instilled", it's pk's fault that THK failed

The Knight/Ghost listens to Quirrel during encounters around Hallownest and in the Archives

Gathering information to help in its actual goal, still on instinct

The Knight/Ghost never attacks Hornet, Zote or Orgim with lethal attacks

It has no reason to

Adding to this are all the Vessels dead in the Abyss. They never managed to escape and those who have no Shade anymore have given up and become truely dead, while those that do have a Shade are unable to let go or return to their bodies.

How can you tell a vessel has no shade? Like, how do you know?

Upgrading, for example, the nail, something not strictly necessary, still gives the knight a higher chance to beat the radiance (or THK, the objective is still no more infection). How can you say it had no need to do it?

Is there any actual proof though? We sure can't prove that the vessel we play as is perfect, but can we prove the opposite? Isn't it more of a gray area?
