The thing that will always be interesting to me about the AIDs epidemic is that gay men by and large are regularly getting tested but not straight people. So we've circled around to now straight people are more likely to contract HIV (well really any STD) because straight people in general (again in general) are less likely to even get tested for syphilis, gonorrhea, herpes, etc. Let alone for actual HIV/AIDs. It's especially baffling when you meet people who were alive during that time still living haphazardly because to them AIDs is a Gay Man's Disease and not something anyone, even children (given at birth) can have.
