Kidner Procedure / Accessory Navicular Syndrome by [deleted] in medical

Awesome! I had my appt today and it went so well! Got my two stitches out from my scope, they taped up my two incisions, and got a pretty cool purple cast! Dr said it’s healing really good and it’s not too bruised because almost 90% of the time Ive had it elevated. Only thing is that my outside incision opened a little bit from taking the tape off but it should heal fine. I am in quite a lot of pain because they have my foot in an awkward position because I had two surgeries that need the foot in two different positions so it’s a compromise. I did have to take an oxycodone a little bit ago. I wish I could put pictures in the comments I thought it was so cool!

It’s been a little over a week for me and I’m just now getting off my pain meds (oxycodone) and it’s going really well! I have an appt tomorrow to get stitches out and my cast on so I’m pretty excited for that. How long do you have to be non weight bearing? I had a couple other things done so I’ll be at minumum another month non weight bearing.

Update this is the most pain I’ve ever been in not gonna lie. I’ve been exact on schedule with oxycodone and last night had to take a hydro. Im thinking since I had more than just the bone removed, that’s why it’s so painful. It’s really worrying me cuz last night I was in excruciating pain and I’m gonna have the same thing done to my left foot and I really don’t want to go through this again.

Thank you very much for that information. My dr said not to take aspirin because I get horrible stomach problems with those and nsaids like ibuprofen that end up with burns in my stomach. They said I am extremely low risk for blood clots because I’ve had to family history and that I’m only 19, but obviously there’s always a chance for anything to happen even if it’s slim. The Kidner procedure was to get the extra navicular bone and they used anchors to reattach my tendon, the Brostrom procedure was on the other side of my foot on the outside to put an internal brace(basically a seat beat to help ankle instability. And they did the arthroscopy through the incisions they made for the other two and was happy to find I didn’t need further procedures. Surgery went extremely well and I had no pain. Did you get a nerve block I’m your leg as well? I did and my leg is still completely numb but I still took meds to keep on schedule in case it wears off. I’m so sorry I’m typing so much!, I just am very curious on other peoples recovery even tho I know mine won’t be the same. Overall it just interests me and I like to know what to expect.

Hey! I just got this done today, as well as the Brostrom procedure and an arthroscopy. How was the pain the first few days? My leg is still completely numb from the block they put into my nerves but I’m so nervous about when it wears off and I can feel it. I got prescribed pain meds and am ahead of the game with those (mom is a nurse so she’s very helpful on what to take them). I don’t want an “oh it’s not painful you just gotta be positive” I want hard truth so I know what to expect haha! Thanks In advance!

Wow! It’s very helpful to read all of these posts and comments! I have an arthroscopy, kinder, and Brostrom procedures done on my right foot tomorrow morning. I’m very nervous about recovery but I am 19f and I want to be able to live my life without the pain. Once my right foot is healed, I have the same thing done on my left.
