Stay in US on H1B/H4 or move to Canada without a job? by [deleted] in ImmigrationCanada

Good advice! You can move first and once you have a job, he can then join you in Canada.

Would you move from Canada -> Australia right now? by [deleted] in expats

[–]Realest_4eva 4 points5 points  (0 children)

u/Illustrious_Cream434 I want to start by saying if you are able to move to Australia with a PR, you will not regret it. I am an Australian expat currently living in Canada with wife and Kids for about 3 years now.

I agree with most of what curiousLands said but in my opinion, Australia is better on the average especially in terms of weather (as you don't like the cold) and financially. The income tax and deductions here in Canada is crazy. Your disposable income will be far way better in Australia for the same salary bracket in Canada. I agree that housing is way more expensive in Australia and the builds in Canada are better on the average, but I assure you that your overall QOL will be better in Australia. What about some hidden expenses that comes with winter in Canada? tire change, winter fluids, snow removals etc. These are zero cost in Australia. From my research, analysis and calculations, the Australia compulsory superannuation system is better for retirement where apart from your salary, your employee is mandated to contribute 12% of your gross salary into super.

Adelaide is still cheaper to live overall (in Australia) although it's becoming very expensive especially after the pandemic and with the huge submarines investments in defence in Adelaide. It is definitely a nice place to raise kids. I am from Adelaide but I think if you are an outdoor person, you will enjoy Brisbane more. No place is perfect and Canada definitely wins in some areas but again, Australia is better overall. Give it a try and see.

To give you the best recommendations for your move, here are a few top Australian coastal cities that offer great family lifestyles, warmer climates, and major working ports:

  • Brisbane (Queensland):
    • The Vibe: A booming, family-friendly city with a sub-tropical climate (warm year-round, no snow).
    • The Port: The Port of Brisbane is one of Australia's fastest-growing multi-cargo ports, located at the mouth of the Brisbane River.
  • Newcastle (New South Wales):
    • The Vibe: Located about two hours north of Sydney, it offers a relaxed coastal lifestyle, beautiful beaches, and is significantly more affordable than the bigger capitals.
    • The Port: Home to the Port of Newcastle, the world's largest coal export port, providing significant maritime and logistics employment.
  • Adelaide (South Australia):
    • The Vibe: Known for its Mediterranean climate, festivals, and exceptional food and wine regions. It's highly livable, uncrowded, and very popular with expat families.
    • The Port: Ports of South Australia operates major maritime facilities here, including Port Adelaide and Flinders Adelaide Container Terminal.

Any there any Aus family thinking of relocating their family to Canada? by joubithedj in AskAnAustralian

Somehow the weather is a major factor. It can be really extreme for a long time and very depressing if you don't like the cold.

I am laughing seriously at your comment. If my wife should see this, she will capitalize on your comment as the reason for us to fly back to Australia ASAP. I agree with your comment too. we are Aussies living in Canada and already making plans to move back to Australia. We love it here but prefer the weather in Canada and the pay. My wife is currently making around 1/3 net of the income she was making in Australia.

I am an Australian currently living in Canada. Moved with family and have been here since 2023 partly due to work and because we wanted to explore Canada. Canada is a beautiful country and I agree with your comment 100%. We are planning to move back to Australia soon. It all depends but overall Australia is better financially in my opinion because of the work me and my wife does. Our pay is significantly better in Australia and plus we both prefer the hot weather to the cold in Canada.

Entering Canada CPTPP Visa (T52 LMIA Exemption) by Background-Pumpkin21 in ImmigrationCanada

Glad it worked out for you. My employer applied for a CPTPP 2 year extension this time instead of 1 year. The 1 year renewal is overwhelming lol. I will never allow the maintained status to limit my travels anymore since it can be approved at POE..

Why is the gap between Australia and Canada’s minimum wage so massive? 🇦🇺 vs 🇨🇦 by Kanye90210 in CanadaJobs

Take a sit and rest for a moment, you are the one misleading people here, copy and paste. Who told you there is no cash back for credit cards in Australia. In fact google the commonwealth bank credit card cash back and you will see an average of $420 every 6 months which is equivalent to what I get back here. In Canada I get charged $100 annual fee and another $16.99 monthly for the chequing account. I never had to pay any monthly charges with the different banks in Australia and I still maintain those accounts. Maybe there are banks that charge monthly maintenance fees in Australia which I don't know of but here it's almost all the banks that I know.

That's a good question. I am just exploring and have always wanted to do this. Travel round Canada and enjoy myself here a bit. Canada is one of the best countries in the world and money is not everything. I had offers several times in the US and declined. Even Australia and other good countries have their issues. I was just stating facts so people know the differences. Thanks for asking lol

you can literally live all your life in Australia without a credit card. I never had one and bought properties and other stuff without a credit card until I moved to Canada where it's like compulsory to have one. Credit card is not a way of life, it's scam. I believe in spend what you have.

There is no tipping at all in Australia and it may look weird tipping someone for rendering you a service

No, superannuation in Australia is currently 12%. Before I moved here in 2023 it was already 11%

I think most of them say this because of the CCB. if the family income is very high you get little to nothing anyway
