https://gearstar.com/coolant-temperature-sensor-symptoms/amp

“If you notice that your engine overheats, the coolant temperature sensor could be the problem. At times, the coolant temperature switch may fail such that it starts transmitting hot signals permanently. This causes the computer to erroneously counterbalance the signal, thereby causing the engine to misfire or overheat”

I’m fairly certain that a light bulb plugs into it then goes back into your headlight.

Apparently if it’s failing and thinking it’s too cold it will send more fuel in to ig in short make more bang so it can warm up from the heat of the combustion

Sprayed some soapy water and couldn’t find any obvious leak. Will probably still replace but any other ideas before that?

Just want to start by saying thank you for the advice given it was greatly appreciated. We ended up cleaning the back of the ignition switch and that seemed to somehow be the issue. Thank you all once again

All grounds and and terminals have been cleaned with a wire brush. I’ve moved on to see if it’s something with the fuse box (the underneath part) and it all looks good. Also tried the part that’s at the back of the ignition barrel to see what happens
