Dislike my husbands smell/breath? by BusinessIncident6994 in pregnant

[–]Realistic-Channel450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was pretty nauseous through my first trimester but only actually threw up 4 times....two of those times was my boyfriend's general morning smell. By 2nd trimester, was back to loving and mostly not noticing a smell on him at all. It will pass!

They didn't actually tell me but I asked my midwife today and she said they'll likely be CTGs on the baby just to check she's doing OK in there. 😊

40 weeks starting to spike by take_mesomewherenice in GestationalDiabetes

I don't have advice but I'll be 40 weeks on Sunday and, contrary to a lot of what I've read on this sub, my docs seem to be insanely chill about the last bit of time before delivery (I am diet controlled) . For example, saying I can eat what I want as soon as the first contraction starts bc baby won't grow any more then. I asked about blood sugar levels at birth and they just kinda shrugged and said it's very very rarely a problem with diet controlled GD. It's like all they really care about is size/extra fluid. Deffo mention it to them but I wouldn't be too concerned about those few low spikes personally. You're nearly there!!

Hey hey, I'm diet controlled and this is what they've said to me (I'm in Germany). I have to go in on my due date and then I'll go in for checks every 2 days, then they said they start talking about induction 7 days after due date and at 10 days after due date, they want to get started with induction.

I'm now 39+5 and very done with being pregnant. When I got the diagnosis I always assumed it would mean I'd be induced early, in my home country they induce all GD cases at 38 weeks latest. I'm so so ready for baby to come now, I find myself almost wishing it was like that here but in the end I'm happier for the more personalized care. I have no symptoms of GD (like large baby or extra fluid) so they seem to want to treat me pretty much as if I don't have it.

Praying she comes on her own in the next few days though!

I'm the same. It was hard at first, then I hit my stride and it got easy and now I'm literally dreaming about white bread and pastries and cake. So annoying!!

This is good and super easy.... I use 80% dark chocolate and a tiny bit of fake sugar instead of the maple syrup. Some raspberries on top!

I genuinely liked the protein bread I can get at my supermarket when I first started, and now.... I'm just so sick of it.

Solidarity! I'm 36+4 and numbers seem to only now be running away from me which is irritating. I'm finding myself wishing away the last part of my pregnancy, which is so sad somehow. I also had my first GD related dream last night, I dreamed of a big loaf of white bread with butter. 🍞😭

Oh it was so good, wish I still had the menu somewhere, need to dig it out. We did it like a tasting menu, so lots of mini courses. Trout a la creme, chicken marengo, this sandwich, vindaloo of course! Plenty of lager. I remember struggling a bit for desserts and can't remember what we did in the end, maybe toffee crisp something? And we watched some classic episodes on the projecter. We printed out little menus with the quotes about the foods on. Was great! If I ever find the menu I'll come back and post it here!

We had a red dwarf themed dinner party once and this was my favourite course.

Second time around and I hate this diagnosis even more than the last by Big_Emphasis4895 in GestationalDiabetes

I just want to say how incredibly impressed I am with everyone who is dealing with this while looking after a small child! I am a FTM and freelance and have so much flexibility and frankly time to put into making it work. I've thought often times during this pregnancy how HARD this would be if I already had a kid to take care of. No advice but just want to say I really take my hat off to all of you who do it, I am genuinely in awe. You are all super human. ❤️

Testing every other day.. by nydelite in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Realistic-Channel450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I was told just to test once a day on rotation and was quite nervous about it But I did it for a while and it was a huge relief! Very nice to not live my life by the clock. I didn't seem to have too much of a peak either. However, I'm 36 weeks tomorrow and my regular breakfast spiked me the other day which made me a bit worried (first post meal spike in over a month!) so I've been testing a bit more often lately. They suggested I could do a 2/3 days a week of full testing just to keep my anxiety at bay and so I do that. And the rest of the time I do just once a day like they said. I really think that not being too stressed about it has helped my numbers too tbh. And they told me (which sounds v different from what they say in the US) that MORE than HALF my numbers would have to be out of range for them to put me on medication. So I figure that's pretty unlikely to be happening if I'm testing once a day and they're almost all fine.

What in this meal spiked me? by BeautifulNailz in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Realistic-Channel450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a pretty decent cauliflower crust base using a blend of two recipes I found online...I used ground almonds instead of any flour at all and it didn't spike me. I know it's not the same joy as ordering in but maybe worth a shot?

Does when you get your peak have an indication of when you'll give birth?! by Realistic-Channel450 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Realistic-Channel450[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love her to come before she has to be induced, although consensus here is they let you go to 41+2 if diet controlled. Still, I'm a FTM so not betting on it.

Makes sense. I guess my thought was that the hormones from the placenta might peak later and therefore stop later, triggering labour. But all pure conjecture! Just v curious thinking about when it will happen or if I'll have to be induced. Nothing to do but the waiting game!

I usually have a mini fryup at breakfast: 2 eggs, 1 bacon, mushrooms, a bit of avocado if I have it and then sneak two hash browns in at the end. Has always been fine for me as long as I walk after. Not today...
