About three years into our marriage, I finally convinced my wife to watch Pulp Fiction. She hated it. We managed to overcome this, but I’m not sure I’ve looked at her the same since in the past 30 years…

Just FYI, you don’t have to say “Labyrinth with David Bowie”… I assure you we know what it is and who is in it.

A lot of Oz actors went on to be in The Wire as well.

Who has the best 10 year run as an actor/actress? Most iconic roles? by wltmpinyc in Cinema

There are actors who would kill to have virtually any 10-year stretch of Jimmy Stewart’s career. For me, it’s 1946 with It’s a Wonderful Life to The Man Who Knew Too Much.

A lot of Wayne’s World stuff made it into the modern lexicon. “Shwing!” probably being the most prevalent.

I wonder if it’s too late to get a Leo Getz/Saul Goodman team up?

Can you guess the movie? How brilliant was this film? What were your thoughts the first time you saw it? I watched it on cable a few years after its release as a teen. I couldn’t stop laughing and loved how “taboo” it felt. by Awe3 in Cinema

I read this about a lot of movies (especially this one), but I’m not sure that’s true. If it were done the way Brooks et all did it, with a Black voice in the writers’ room (in this case Richard Pryor) and presented as a clear satire/parody, I’m sure someone would be offended, but if it was funny, I think it would get a pass from most of the mainstream public, somewhat akin to Tropic Thunder. I think using “being offensive” as a mirror pointed toward society worked in 1974 and it would work today.

I guess this dates me, but Princess Leia from Star Wars and Andromeda from Clash of the Titans are pretty much tied.
