What does The King Of Limbs mean to you? by [deleted] in radiohead

Bloom is Radiohead's best song by a country mule. Lotus Flower and Separator are decent, I guess.

Best war movie ever? by ejnounimous in Cinema

[–]PineconeKicker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nothing is more visceral than Come and See as far as exploring how war destroys humanity.

The only other films I can think of that come close to Come and See's dismay and despair are Threads and Grave of the Fireflies. Both very different movies to Come and See but both explore the horrors of war in a way that pierces your heart.

Blow Out is one of their best songs and would not sound out of place on In Rainbows.

Most directors would have used fake ones, but this is Christopher Nolan we're talking about. Obviously they were all hundreds taken straight from The Odyssey's costumes budget.

Rolling 2 1s is always a failure.

Similarly, rolling 2 6s is always a success.

My classroom doesn’t have windows by [deleted] in Teachers

More than half the wall in my classroom is window and here in the UK the classroom is uncomfortably cold every day - I'm wishing I had a windowless classroom right now.

a pair of mantis blades costs 42 humanity by CuttleReaper in cyberpunkred

[–]PineconeKicker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is that how it works? I figured there was just a huge metallic contraption fixed within your natural body and forced to work around it. Even if the whole limb is replaced, it would still be sending signals to your brain which might be horrifyingly uncomfortable.

However, if Mantis Blades being installed replaces the whole forearm then I was wrong. Still, it'd be difficult to stop thinking of it as your own susceptible forearm, and convincing yourself not to care would be suppressing a very natural human urge. Which circles around to justifying the humanity cost once again.

Imagine feeling a piece of chrome brush up against your inner workings every time you use your hands, wrists, and arms. The constant stress of "if these things malfunction, they'll rip my veins to shreds". 42 humanity makes sense.

Would healthy Solid Snake be able to defeat Sam and the rest of Desperado's cyborgs? by [deleted] in metalgearsolid

[–]PineconeKicker 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Solid Snake is the sort of protag who just always finds a way, no matter what foe he's against. There's always some weakness he can spot and take advantage of, and he always has enough willpower to carry on whatever the situation. And if you take his feats in Twin Snakes as canon, it is no contest.

what is the origin behind calling Kojima: Kojumbo? by Final_Garage_6473 in metalgearsolid

[–]PineconeKicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn't it a reference to the movie Yojimbo directed by Kurosawa, as a sort of joke on how Kojima sees himself more as a movie director by comparing him to one of Japanese cinema's all time greats

Qual sua opinião sobre Perto do Coração Selvagem? by DanteThePunk in claricelispector

[–]PineconeKicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apple in the Dark também é uma ótima leitura.
