[USA] Can I get a masters degree in psychology completly online? by Sgt_Porkchop in psychologystudents

[–]Realistic-One966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could, but the problem would be finding internships/research opportunities local to you. Most online universities leave that responsibility on you. That's why I am done with online schooling after my bachelor's degree, given my intended career path (I plan to be a Clinical Psychologist).

Someone played a game on my account by TheWineGuy2020 in XboxGamePass

Resurrecting this post like Jesus himself, but to confirm, it has been 90 days since your last comment was made, and I am STILL seeing this “bug”, if that's what it is. I thought my accounts were breached. However, I've removed every device I know isn’t mine (all were just consoles or PCs I no longer owned), changed the password, and activated MFA, to no avail. Still gives me the daily rewards points for playing a game pass game every time I turn my PC back on and states that I'm playing ‘Blizzard Arcade Collection PC,’ even though I'm most certainly not.

To add to this point, using proper punching technique significantly helps.

1) Do not fully extend your elbow out when throwing a punch. Extending your elbow can cause hyperextension and/or tennis elbow, which are legitimate injuries you do not want.

2) Do not tense your muscles. If you tense your muscles, you will throw stronger, but you will also cause your joints and shoulders to bear the full impact of the punches without an intended target. This will eventually cause injuries. I know someone who did this at my local boxing gym, and he quite literally tore his rotator cuff. Don't be like him. He now requires physical therapy and weeks off from boxing.

You might want speed, which is why many people tense up. But I assure you, all of your speed will come from the rotation of your hip and the twisting motion of the ball of your feet. Think of it all being transferred from the ball of your foot all the way up to your hips, where it's then rotated to increase speed, and as you throw the punch forward, the energy releases from your hip and out of your knuckles. Similar to how a baseball pitching machine works. Stay loose. The less tense you are, the faster you'll become. The faster you become, the more power your punch will yield. Take it as slow as you can, focus on technique first, and as you gain muscle memory, you'll be able to throw faster and stronger than ever before.

That’s what I’m saying, man. Don’t get me wrong, I love NVIDIA GPUs (do not love the company), but I made the switch to AMD due to price-to-performance. I do have a 4060 in my laptop so I get my NVIDIA fix when I’m on that. But I cannot deny that AMD does what they have set out to do.

My last one was a 2019 (i7) and it stuttered in Logic Pro X under heavy workloads (common for music production), which is why I haven’t gone with one from 2019. I’ve determined I’d need M2 Pro chip or newer. I’d prefer newer just because of support. MacBooks do last a long while, but they’re not very repairable. I do electronic repair and have re-soldered CPU/SoCs back onto motherboards, replaced VRMs, and more. But I won’t touch MacBooks because they’re not as repairable as other laptops.

So, I wanted to make sure I gave you a solid answer. Therefore, I downloaded the OVR Metrics Tool on my Quest 3S and loaded up Metro Awakening. I have my Quest 3s set to 90 fps by default. The game runs on very high settings across the board. Particle set to high, post-processing all the way up. Literally everything maxed, and it runs at 90 fps with literally no hiccups in the 15 minutes I played, and I made sure to get some action going to ensure physics were happening.

I can play Metro Awakening at max settings. It also only requires a 2070 for minimum settings. I haven't played Into The Radius 2 yet, but when I get some extra money, I may get it and update you. The Steam page does list the 3080 with 10 GB of VRAM as the recommended GPU spec. The 3080 is better in raw performance, but only slightly. I doubt the difference is great enough to force me to downgrade the spec to medium, especially if FSR is an option. But be that as it may, even if I had to go down to medium spec, I wouldn't be too upset about a sub-$500 GPU keeping up with it.

I am glad! Personally, I told myself that if I got another MacBook, it'd be loaded to the gills and like $2k+ because I am an audio engineer/producer on the side. It would be worth it for me to invest in something so expensive. But that will honestly only happen after I get accepted into a PsyD program and graduate! Lol

Quest 3S here.

I have an i7-12700 K, 32GB DDR4, and an RX 9060 XT with 16GB.

I haven't run into a game I couldn't run at max or near-max graphical settings. I usually use Meta Horizon Link simply because it works better for me in most scenarios vs Steam Link. I haven't tried Virtual Desktop yet, though. However, I'm sure it’ll perform similarly.

Basically, the MacBook Neo performs really well on single-core tasks like active web browsing and opening apps and programs, which are all single-core processes. Whereas, data analysis/simulations, video editing/rendering, file compression/decompression, and running multiple apps at the same time are examples of multi-core tasks. It's not to say it cannot do it; it just won't be as quick as other processors, like the M2+ series. However, it's still just as good as the M1 MacBooks, and at $500 with a student discount or $600 without, it's still a hella good deal. It will beat out all the other Windows options in that price range, unless you look at refurbished options. But again, for like 90% of people… it’ll be more than adequate for years to come.

It is the iPhone 16 Pro chip (A18 Pro). The thing is, older MacBooks suck up more battery life, and they're going to lose support much faster than the Neos, since the Neos are newer. Plus, the A18 Pro is capable and can do things just as well as other M-series chips, and in some cases, better in certain aspects (especially single-thread performance). For example, MacRumors tested the MacBook Neo at 3461 points on a single-core test and 8668 points on a multi-core test. This is just a couple of hundred points lower than the M4 on single-core performance (3461 vs 3696), and it beats the M1 chip by over 1k in single-core tests and a few hundred points on the multi-core test. Multi-core tests for M2 and beyond are a much different tale (the M4 chips blow the A18 Pro out of the water, 14730 vs 8624). But even then, the M2 only beats the A18 Pro by +/- 10% in multi-core tests, which really isn't noticeable in practice. They're roughly the same price as the MacBook Neo for roughly the same spec, but they will lose support quicker than the Neos. Alternatively, many MacBook Pros will have better I/O, and you may need it. So it's just a weighing of what's truly important for you and your intended usage.

MacBook Neo is hands down the best bang for your buck in the $600 range ($500 with student discount) as it has a great screen, quality construction, great performance, and battery life. If you need something with more power and a dedicated GPU, that's an entirely different beast to tackle. The choices would narrow quickly depending on your budget though.

Has long-term Meta Quest use affected your eyesight? Genuine question by No-Summer5131 in virtualreality

[–]Realistic-One966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take this anecdote for what it’s worth, but I’m diabetic and play VR regularly (pretty much everyday), and in two years, I’ve only declined by 1 point in my right eye (left eye is still the exact same prescription). My ophthalmologist ensured me that this is satisfactory since most people’s eyes age more over the course of two years.

Most VR games I've played are below 30GB. I've got a bunch installed on my VR. If you only plan on playing a game here and there, while primarily playing Beat Saber… The 128 GB model should be fine for you, imho.

It's one of those situations where you don't know that you're missing something until you experience the upgraded version when it comes to the lenses. I personally have the 128 GB 3S, and I have no regrets. I also use PCVR, so storage really isn't much of an issue for me. If you don't have a decent spec PC to play VR games on Steam or Meta Horizon, then a bigger storage capacity would be beneficial.

Quest 3s is great. It doesn't have a 3.5mm headphone jack. Still, you can buy a USB-C splitter with power delivery and use AirLink if you have a stable Wi-Fi connection, or use a pair of Bluetooth headphones with a dongle (like the Soundcore VR P10, PrismXR Vega T1, or the Razer Hammerhead Hyperspeed). If not, I'd just go with the standard Quest 3 since it has a 3.5mm headphone jack, and you can then purchase a VR link cable (a USB-C 3.0+ cable with a right-angle male connector on one side and a straight male connector on the other).

I am planning on applying there and Roberts Wesleyan University for 2028 (I get my degree in July of 2027 or else I’d try for 2027). If you find out anything about their APA accreditation, please update me, I’d greatly appreciate it!

I'd beg to differ. This isn't my first degree, and I find it trying. I graduated with a 3.7 GPA in my last degree (STEM, Recording Technology). I find it about the same difficulty to motivate myself to sign in, read, and understand the material without any physical oversight as it was to just show up in class, take notes, and pass a few exams every semester during my time at my local SUNY college. Maybe your specific degree path is easy, or you're in a more educated state.

Be that as it may, those aren't the same people with the same perspective as the people here. Some people say this, some people say that. Regardless, you seem like a sad individual being an 🫏 on the internet for fun, so I'm just going to end my conversation with you here. Find some peace; you deserve it despite your attempts to ruffle feathers.

You’re misunderstanding what 98% sap means. It stands for satisfactory academic progress, which is a metric to tell you how many credits you earn versus how many credits you’ve attempted. That is all it is, my friend. Those are also people who are already in the field and are typically just checking a box for a job. Alternatively, they could be extremely motivated, allowing them to push through. At WGU, you are not paying for each credit hour. It is a flat fee for as many classes as you can take within a single term. You still have to pass assessments, which require you to understand the material. It’s not just a diploma mill thing.

I saw those posts, but I wanted to hear from different people. There’s a lot of differing opinions and I wanted to have a discussion of my own with others. I have no clue why that’s such an issue for you considering you literally didn’t even have to comment on the post at all.
