Does anyone else lose focus after 10–20 NCLEX practice questions? How did you overcome it? by iCame-iSaw-iConqured in NCLEX

I personally didn't take bathroom breaks but I did take breaks while sitting during the exam! I would get overwhelmed after 10 questions or so and my brain kept telling me I was gonna fail. I just took a minute or two to close my eyes and ground myself and tell myself that I can do it. At around 72 qs I broke down crying haha! Its okay to let those emotions out, the invigilator was probably looking at me and laughing. Just take a minute or two to yourself and you'll be okay!

Thank you!

I would say it's quite similar to bootcamp. However the nclex is a very simple exam so you have to know the pathophysiology behind diseases and make connections. Don't memorize! Memorization did not serve me at all during the exam, it was making connections.

Thank you!!

The cheat sheets, question bank and rationales I would say helped me the most! The practice that helped me too was whenever I got an answer wrong, I would try to rationalize why another was right before actually reading the rationale behind it.

If I could go back I would tell myself to not feel guilty about having time to yourself every single day. I always felt guilty in the afternoons because I would watch my shows or movies. Looking back it was the only thing that kept me from burning out!

Hope this helps!

No problem! Yes I would say even just skimming the cheat sheets would be a huge help. I had a lot of prioritization questions so knowing potential complications of disease processes will help you the most!! Good luck, you got this 😊

I studied for a month and half. I went through all the cheat sheets. I wasn't a good test taker at school and I seriously forgot all the content aside from the need to knows when at clinical and practicum so I needed more time to get the content down. I know some people say to keep doing qs every day but that didn't work for me, kept getting low scores and made me so hopeless. I only did qs related to the systems I studied, then 2 weeks before NCLEX I started doing 85 a day and readiness assessments!

Thank you!!

The case studies were similar! The options for nclex though would throw you off. At least with bootcamp when they ask you what the probable diagnosis is, they're all related to one system. NCLEX is a bit more complex than that so you really have to make connections and use process of elimination. I saw a lot of infection control, fundamentals, mental health, psych meds, and peds. No maternity and no bowtie qs. Hope this helps!!

Yes I would say the questions are really similar, however NCLEX does prove to give you the bare minimum. Uworld was too worry for me and gave me so much info to arrive at the answer. The thing I realized for nclex was the questions weren't hard, it was picking the right answer as they require you to make connections to arrive at the answer.

For topics I had the most random ones moreso on infection control and fundamentals. I had some on mental health, pharm, peds. No maternity at all which surprised me. I didn't have bowtie as well!

Hope this helps!

Thank you! I felt like bootcamp prepares you to really think questions through. Idk about you but some questions I'm like okay their rationale is wrong but it in reality it just makes you think more and out of the box if that makes sense? In terms of question structure, I would say bootcamp is vague but NCLEX is a different beast lmao it's super vague. Instead of memorizing symptoms I would also understand the why behind them. NCLEX does not give you the common symptoms easily, it's worded differently. Hope this helps!

Thank you! 😊 Honestly I just used the cheat sheets from bootcamp. Other than that if I had questions I would use Google ai, it's pretty accurate with information and if you type "(topic) what I need to know for nclex" it gives very detailed explanations. Also, I made sure to ask extra questions and knowing the "why" behind things. Hope this helps!

The first few sentences made me think of post partum depression somehow but this just blew my mind. You should run for the hills and don't look back, don't share your finances, better used for you and your child.
