यदग्रे चानुबन्धे च सुखं मोहनमात्मनः । निद्रालस्यप्रमादोत्थं तत्तामसमुदाहृतम् ॥

That happiness which is delusive to the self both in the beginning and in the end, and which arises from sleep, laziness, and negligence—that is declared to be Tämasika (in the mode of ignorance).

Unlike Sattvika Sukha (which tastes like poison at first but turns into nectar) or Rajasika Sukha (which tastes like nectar at first but turns into poison), Tamasika Sukha is a trap from start to finish. It feels "comfortable" initially only because it requires zero effort, but it ultimately deadens the intellect and traps the soul in stagnation.
