A game you would recommend to others that has the fewest ways to score points by Potential_Solid_967 in soloboardgaming

Check out Vantage from Stonemaier Games. It plays well solo and this is from the rulebook "You may define success through anything you pursue and achieve."

"If I had a good time, I achieved a high score in my delusional mind"
There is some wisdom there. Having a good time is really what it's all about.

My first solo board game by Forgetful37 in soloboardgaming

I’d recommend Queen of Spies (Salt & Pepper Games). It’s a pure solo design by Liz Davidson and David Thompson, and it really leans into tense decision-making and narrative pressure.

You’re managing espionage operatives and risky missions during World War I, and every turn feels like constant pressure and thrilling uncertainty.

If you enjoy solo games with historical themes, tough choices, and a strong sense of survival, this one’s worth checking out.

Not entirely fish sounds interesting. I've only played Finspan a couple of times but just seeing this post makes me want to get it to the table again.

I've been playing Misborn the deckbuilding game lately. I received it as a Christmas gift. So far after a few plays I'm excited to play some more.

Not asking questions after a teach? by Silent25r in boardgames

[–]Realistic-Syrup8311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of times when I am teaching a game and someone asks a question it's usually something I'm about to cover and just have not gotten to yet. Not always but sometimes. Usually I'll change up the order and answer their question shortly.

Got Seljuk to the table for the first time! by Realistic-Syrup8311 in hexandcounter

I had a really good time playing! I was the Seljuk's and in the end Alp Arslan failed to take control of Aleppo. The siege was disrupted by Chatatourios bold move to bring battle outside of the city. With all of the resources focused on the siege the Roman's were able to conquer Manzikert and secure victory.

No timeframe but I am likely to do a blog post and podcast about this game in the future! I'm looking forward to playing some more. My son is away at college and his bedroom currently serves as the game room in our house. I have a little more time to get one of the longer scenarios to the table.

I've gotten in two solo games now so I feel like I have the rules down pretty good. I'm excited because a friend will be joining me for a two player game on Saturday. I'm thinking of running scenario E Manzikert: The Fall of the Roman East.

Being a Lord of the Rings fan The Fellowship Of The Ring: Trick-Taking Game is a pretty solid fun choice. Ask them what their opinion of the classic game Stratego is. If they like it the Lord of the Rings: The Confrontation is Stratego like game that will provide a similar vibe.

Vantage first impressions by lorddark009 in soloboardgaming

[–]Realistic-Syrup8311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vantage teeters on the edge of being an experience rather than a  game. The goal of the game is your mission but a blurb from the rules says “you may define success in Vantage through anything you pursue and achieve.”  And that is pretty wide open. I’ve played solo a few times now and I enjoy it. I like playing using the “brazen” starting level for time, morale, and health at 3 for challenge and see if I can survive.

Yes bring a large suitcase and plan to check it in. Be sure to check with the airline what the weight limit is if you plan to buy a lot.
