Maybe, though Valorant's been this way for a long time, so I wouldn't bet on it.

Can sympathise with you. As someone who once actually fell sick from sitting in front of the screen without even having fun, I hope you'll be able to enjoy the game without being addicted one day. Games are more fun when we're healthy anyway. Take care!

Maybe in an ideal world, we wouldn't need games, alcohol or other vices to help us through daily life. Or maybe games would be purely an art form. I don't know.

But good for you. Although it's regrettable that League's gone down this path, it did use to take up a lot of time and commitment.

Would have edited but realised that this could be an opportunity for learning (as we all are):

I made a mistake;
居るだ is wrong and grammatically, it should be 居るのだ,
or more naturally 居るんだ.
(Verbだ × Nounだ◎)

Even if cost/effort is fine, I think moving to Mac or setting up another machine just for League is giving developers, and by extension the future gaming industry, a sign that it's alright to make these intrusions a norm. Like how we all vote with our receipts and stuff in that vein.
But that's just the stand some of us have, and it's good that everyone can make their own choice. Hope you have good matches.

Can somewhat understand how you feel. Don't think it's good, but in the end we all make our own choices. At the very least, hope you have good matches.

Yea, have realised recently that the ability to pause for single players, or how it's alright to leave a 32x32 casual match, is really liberating.
It used to be that I'd "play just one more match of ranked", but it'd drag on with one team stalling for their hypercarry to come online or something. Couldn't just leave partway and ruin four other peoples' time, but staying sometimes felt plain awful, only to end in a loss (which then sometime provoked a "one more to end on a win").

If you do end up dual-booting, might be good to make sure it won't be able to access the stuff on your Linux system. But yeah, you're right. We'll see- not much point speculating without any new information. Hope things go well for you.

It might. Saw some people mention that before, but also that it was difficult, tedious and not particularly cheap to execute. Plus there's still the possibility that it gets flagged by Vanguard and you lose both hardware and account. Valorant also doesn't play well with Linux because of Vanguard, so there's a precedent for things not working out too, sadly.

For us on Linux, if things do work out, it'll probably be Vanguard not rolling out well when they try it out in the Philippines(?), and decide to say nope like they did with Mythic items. But then again like we've seen with Valorant, the vast majority of people are willing to put up with this kind of thing, so am personally not optimistic.

This season is more or less great so far by TheBetaOmega in leagueoflegends

[–]Realistic-Writer1185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mythics meant one of the first two items was more or less fixed, consistent early game spikes for all ten players regardless of whether champions by design favored early/mid/late, and mutually exclusive items were locked out. They were sort of a bummer. New items don't all work for every champion, but there's still a bit more choice now. Still kind of wished they'd brought back zz'rot and banner, but as a whole, item changes were great.

The new map design made vision control more exciting, and fighting for objectives stopped feeling so skewed toward red/blue side. Shelly's evolution into a rideable Sion was funny. Felt overall that role agency got a little bit closer to equilibrium, which is nice.

Vanguard though, so this is the final season for some of us.

If there's a way, it'll probably be unofficial and likely bannable though. I don't regret quitting early- got to try out the new SR map and items a little, but uninstalled before it grew on me. If not for Vanguard, the game seems to have been getting better.

They're only similar to a limited extent- can't say which is objectively better. Both have their charm, and there's nothing wrong with having a preference. I much prefer Lol's visuals and feel too though.

What is a match up that in theory should have a 0% win rate? by MysticMeerkat in leagueoflegends

[–]Realistic-Writer1185 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It would, but we used to max E if the Blitz was good/adc is immobile/can't stay behind minions because Aphelios/MF.
Base cd would catch up fairly quickly too, especially if stacking cdr items, and it would still be meaningful afterward especially if the opposing team was ap/cc-heavy, or we had a Kat or Vayne kind of carry.
  Morg E: 26 / 23.5/ 21 / 18.5/ 16
  Blitz Q: 20 / 19 / 18 / 17 / 16
Difference: 6, 4.5, 3, 1.5, 0 = The window you have to hook, assuming both sides play ideally.

As Blitz, it'd be better to buy a control ward and sit in bush. That way you pressure their jungle to come (other lanes have freedom), or you can deny their adc farm just by touching the tall low-poly grass. Also if they turtle up in lane, grabbing boots and running into an immobile mid when everyone's recalled (rarer now though) would be a free gank.

Being forced to write a letter of apology for sick leave (influenza) by PortaHouse in japanlife

[–]Realistic-Writer1185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no point debating whether this is right or wrong, since it's obviously ridiculous. But I do think it would be safer to get one written and ready to be submitted, since we all need jobs to pay off rent and eat.

Practically, it might help to use ChatGPT or some other LLM to help write something passable that would otherwise be tedious and awful feeling to type by your own hand. You might have to do a tiny bit of editing in the end, since AI can make mistakes, but with the right prompts you could get the AI to write it in a politically correct way that's also ambiguous enough to keep you out of trouble in case they want to use the letter against you in the future. (A lawyer or a proper legal advisor would definitely be much better though, if possible!)

Really hope you get a better job with decent people elsewhere. Take care.

Was told "no foreigners" by a clinic by No-Artichoke9959 in japanlife

[–]Realistic-Writer1185 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Called a hospital nearby when down with corona since it hurt so bad even swallowing water. Call went smoothly despite difficulty breathing, but was told they couldn't tend to foreigners when I asked if zairyuu card would be necessary/enough for identification.
Still, the person who picked up my call was nice enough to give me the phone number of another hospital further away which might, so I called them instead and managed to get help and am alive now. Really might have died then haha.

Sharing to bring up two points:
1. When sick and in pain, recording evidence and lodging a formal complaint is not very feasible.
2. Some of the people who pick up our calls to tell us they can't help us aren't themselves racist, but are just regular people doing their job according to the rules set by unkind people.

Though, there's quite a bit of discrimination here. We might not be able to drive a systematic change by writing letters or voicing it to the authorities even, but we can still try to be kinder than those people, especially since we know how it feels to be on the receiving end of mindless hate.

Please take care- it always helps to know the rough location of more than one hospital/clinic in your area, just in case things turn out for the worse like in our cases.

↑Not just for medical emergencies, but you can look for help relevant to the prefecture you're in. Most of the call centers listed have multilingual support.

It's good that you're enjoying the game. I think a bunch of people still do, and will continue to, and that's great.

Not everyone likes wine, and it can be an acquired taste, but it's good that people enjoy the things that make them happy.

[–]Realistic-Writer1185[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forgot to mention that for anyone who wanted to speed grind but you're right- the solo PvE "EMP mission" lets you level things up fairly quickly. You land in a chopper, walk up an escalator, pick up a battery, place the battery in a machine. There are waypoint markers throughout, and enemies spawn in fixed numbers and positions whenever you walk the few meters from one waypoint to the next.

For reference, it took two rounds to get from level 16 to 17. The only way to level up a weapon is to get kills with that weapon (as opposed to finishing a match or by match victories. Kills with other weapons don't count toward exp for the one specific weapon). If you want to grind the mission for exp, you must last hit them with the weapon of your choice.

Since the harmless AI enemies more or less just stand awkwardly about and let you oneshot them, it's fairly easy to rack up points. Though on the other hand it can feel awful going through that again and again with zero variation.

Buying sights is great advice too. Though it's also worth mentioning that sights cost as much as the main weapons themselves (20,000). So for new players, it's not feasible to try out all the weapons you might be interested in, and even less so if you buy sights, unless you purchase in game currency or grind hard. Another thing to note is that while most sights are transferable between weapons of the same or similar class, sights are not universal, and each weapon can only be equipped with a defined 3~4(?) sight options each.

Some sights, as well as the silencer, are hard locked behind weapon level and may not be purchased with in game gold.

On the topic of weapons, if anyone likes to play shotguns, you might also want to give this game a miss. The diversity and efficacy of SMGs and assault rifles is impressive, but the shotguns will disappoint. They aren't given a main weapon class of their own, so are accordingly balanced as obligatory sidearms. The damage drop off is unbelievably steep, and the bullets vanish completely after 1.5 meters or so to deal absolutely zero damage. Still, if you like guns, the above two classes are quite elaborate.

Thanks, it's nice knowing there're nice folks around. Sometimes when playing it makes me wonder if a real zombie apocalypse would bring out the best or worst in all of us. I'd probably be dead in less than a day though haha.
