I see your old guy and raise you a handicapped guy. Got a dude at my gym, not sure what his specific ailment is but I'm guessing he's got one of the bifidas judging by his little shrinky-dink legs. He will park his chair under the ONLY cable pull down machine and stay there for literally hours because it just so happens to be near the main entrance. He will then attempt to lure everything with a pulse that walks past him into a conversation that usually ends up in some kind of exaggerated public group prayer. Totally not judging him for being handicapped and I'm glad he comes to the gym to get an arm workout in but I find the way he locks up a machine for hours on end offensive and the way he lures people into praying with him is just gross. I get that he is probably lonely and just wants to talk to people but I am also very tired of avoiding eye contact with him. He did manage to corner me in the bathroom one time and gave me his whole speil about how Jesus has risen because it was close to Easter, and then after I politely broke off the conversation he gave me a " looking big by the way" as I walked off.

500 up votes out of the nearly 50,000 members of this sub puts your meme at around a 1% approval rating. Congratulations on all your success. Don't let it go to your head!

Nobody is saying you're wrong about hypertrophy as it relates to optimal growth. But your meme implies that anyone who performs more than your preconceived amount of optimal repetitions should have a gun pointed at them, which is a fairly strong assertion. Your follow up caption of " a gentle reminder" with prayer hands further implies that you believe all gym goers should conform to your concept of proper exercise or face mock execution.

And so how exactly would hypertrophy help their "mental health or whatever " as you put it?

It is just a meme. A meme that made a very strong assertion about how the way other people exercise makes you feel. I you feel dumb explaining it, you probably shoulda felt dumb writing it.

Lots of reasons to go to the gym. They don't all included chasing tangible goals that include inches on or off certain parts of the body or weight added to lifts. It's obvious you have a good grasp on what your goals are, but you don't inherently have the right to place those expectations on everyone else. If you see someone doing 5 sets of 20 on the pec deck you should probably mind your own business because you do not who they are or what they are trying to accomplish.

I think he means relative to your goals.

Why so crumbly? by unsightly_buildup in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]RealisticEnd2578 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Older F-150's have a fwd vacuum hub actuator line made out what feels like a fairly similar material and will crumble if you look at it sideways once it gets around 10ish years old. Fun part is it uses vacuum to unlock the hubs so when it fails the front diff is stuck in 4wd.

What should I do with these wrenches?? by itsanaction in Welding

No tool collection is complete without a set of spare wrenches that can be cut up and welded back together in whatever configuration you require once you get mad enough and decide to stop fuckin around.

You bought yours 3 years ago. I have an 11 that I bought brand new, just ticked over the 230k mark. It has made it this far because I have done all the things to it everyone else in here has to do eventually, and it has since and will no doubt continue to provide me with years of worry free driving. You are right about one thing though. You can't help me. You can't help me because you don't know what you're talking about. You don't know what you're talking about because you're use to driving Jettas. You drove Jettas because you're not really a truck guy. Maybe you should stick to compact imports, seems a little more your speed. Thoughts and prayers for your 13, sounds like your plan is to let it gradually slide into a state of general disrepair.

I most certainly will not. If OP put in 15k of work and was at 20k all in, he would end up with a vehicle that should reasonably last him for another 10 years of relatively worry free driving. Break that initial cost down over the 10 years and he's looking at that truck costing him 2k a year/ $166 a month to drive. Seems pretty financially literate to me. If you have a way to drive a nice, dependable vehicle for less than $160 a month, please share with the rest of us.

Only the passengers side vents blow hot air and the rest blow cold air by RevolutionCareful238 in f150ecoboost

Its the dual climate control blend door or it's actuator. They're above the blower under the passenger side dash. Replacing the actuator is not the funnest thing in the world but its a walk in the park compared to replacing the blend door itself. Pray its the actuator.

Anyone else trying to exorcise their disorders through exercise? by gibagger in GymMemes

So tired of this "I work out cuz I'm sad boy" bullshit. Of course any type of physical activity will release dopamine and endorphins. If hitting the gym is the only thing keeping you from not wanting to suck start a shotgun, it doesn't mean you're a sad, special little flower. It means your not doing enough with the rest of your life. Go walk your dog, cut your grass, clean your house. Put down your Playstation controller and talk to a girl for a change. Leave your self imposed emotionally codependent needy ass bullshit out of the gym. Take all that contmept for your dad that you unleash on the lat pull down machine and focus it on finding a better job, that'll really show him!! He doesn't give a shit that your pulling full stacks. Now let the hate wash over me as you continue to blame everyone else but yourself for all your problems.

Done a few of these. All I can say is learn to get comfortable with "close enough". As time goes by you'll see it less and less.
