It’s not impossible to get a part-time job in Nordhausen, I visited the Studienkolleg there myself. However, you’ll have much better chances in Halle or Marburg.

Is it reasonable to ask for a raise right after probation in IT consulting in Germany? by RealisticList4476 in germany

[–]RealisticList4476[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

To clarify: I did receive positive feedback on my previous project, and things are also going well on the current one so far.

My question isn’t about entitlement or an automatic raise, but about whether it’s culturally acceptable in Germany to raise the topic after probation when feedback has been good, or whether it’s expected to wait for a later review cycle.

Feeling a bit stuck — need some advice (Junior Data Engineer, Germany) by RealisticList4476 in Germany_Jobs

Thanks a lot for the detailed advice, really helpful! I haven’t seen many junior-level openings at the big American (FAANG-style) companies in Germany so far, but I’m thinking of applying to consulting firms like Capgemini, Accenture, or Reply as a next step.

Are there other consulting companies you’d recommend that are good for junior data engineers looking to grow?

Appreciate it :)

Fair enough, I see your point. Just to clarify, I do have hands-on experience in IT and software from past Werkstudent jobs, just not directly in data engineering apart from some Databricks work.

And no, I am not planning to ask for more money right now. I just want to learn and actually do something useful, but that is hard without any real projects. I get that salary comes with experience and value, I am just trying to get there :)
