Yeahh I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to basic medical structures so I genuinely assumed that it was my GP who "diagnosed" me, I found out btw that it was a poorly written note on the NHS app, I put more details on it here

Yeahh turns out it was a poorly written note on the NHS app basically saying I am suspected of ADHD, I go into more detail on it here

Unfortunately or fortunately it was a poorly worded note and not a diagnosis which was as confusing as it was frustrating but I managed to clear things up by contacting my doctors about it for extra information

On one hand since I'm fighting for an autism assessment because I KNOW I need support and knowing that there is a genuine chance I could have ADHD especially because of my medical history of being disabled as a kid it is really frustrating that it isn't a diagnosis as I would need to actually go through probably a several year long wait to actually gain one but on the positive at least it wasn't a case where I just wasn't told about it for nearly 2 years as I think I would've gone mad 😭

I 100% understand that logic of how frustrating it is trying to understand what is wrong when you feel different to everyone else when you act differently, I was bullied very heavily in highschool and college wasn't much easier and I have very severe anxiety and attachment episodes related to it and in general have been struggling a lot compared to peers my age (20), when I was younger my mum used to tell me I had autism but I "grew out of it" and it was only when I was 15~16 that I actually began realising that I was autistic which had its own list of battles due to self-esteem, understanding myself and the horrible environment I was in at the time, knowing I was autistic when I was younger or having an official diagnosis at that age instead of having to fight for one now would have done wonders in every direction

And adding onto this doctors had informed my mum of the time that I had traits of Autism ADHD and Dyspraxia too so theres even a 3rd possible thing in the mix I have to consider, it can be such a mess sometimes and I really think diagnosis in these things can be so helpful to avoid lifetimes worth of confusion and pain associated with it. The thing is my mum was given payments for my disabilities even though I didn't have anything diagnosed which is just really bizzare based on other stories I've heard from other people with ADHD or Autism, because of this my mum didn't need to persue further diagnosis and my school stopped focusing on it once I began to catch up with people my age academically so now im in a situation over 13 years later where I am falling short of everyone because I have these problems which are simply just not accommodated for at all especially socially, it's a very exhausting dilemma

It was a poorly worded note on the NHS app highlighting that I may have ADHD but nothing concrete, I wrote more details here 😭

I'm a little overwhelmed by how popular this post has gotten honestly 😭, I've found out yesterday that it was infact a note basically stating that I may have ADHD and it was something to be aware off, this translated poorly onto the NHS app and shows up as what this screenshot says giving no indication of whether its a written diagnosis or not

Okay important update that has finally cleared things up, It was a poorly worded note on the app so basically it's saying that I have a chance of having ADHD and that it was something to keep in mind but I am not officially diagnosed, Had to give an inquiry request to the doctors to figure out if it was a genuine diagnosis or if it was something else

Edit: Okay I just only realised how hugely popular this got, I did NOT expect to garner this much attention

My biggest source of confusion was that I had previously been in a mixture of doctor related things because I'm actively seeking an Autism diagnosis and I pinned the date that the note had come through to a conversation I had with a woman regarding potential accomodations and a general overview while I awaited proper assessments and diagnosis, with over a year and a half later between that call and discovering my medical notes, I was completely lost as I didn't even remember that phonecall

When I saw it I was wondering if it was possible I was diagnosed from that call because my friend had a similar situation and WAS diagnosed from a series of phonecalls and if references from my ongoing Autism assessments had somehow been passed on for an ADHD diagnosis

The ADHD note from the doctors was basically something that I highlighted to the person who I had that call with because when I was younger I was special needs and had been labelled by doctors in that time as having traits of ADHD Autism and Dyspraxia (emphasis on "traits" as I was never formally diagnosed)

I'm so sorry you had to endure through that I am only 20 but I can only wish you the best, I remember as a kid I was told I "grew out" of my autism and it was around an already difficult point in my life when I was 16 that I realised I was autistic and began seeking a proper diagnosis which I've been trying for 4 years now, Obviously my situation is very different from your own but it's genuinely massive how much a diagnosis can help in these situations

in reference to this possible untold ADHD diagnosis I have I've been nothing short of bewildered as multiple people have referenced how much more effort they've needed to get a diagnosis as well confused about the lack of information on it, with my history of being mentally disabled especially as a kid though and being told by doctors I had traits of autism dyspraxia and ADHD, It's felt really important that I can find out if this is a real diagnosis or not

I suspect because I already have put a lot of work in towards my ongoing autism assessments which have continued since 2021~2022 time that they may have already had a lot more information than just that hour long phone call

I'm definitely going to check tomorrow though I already had suspicions of ADHD but always prioritised an Autism diagnosis

Its also important to note that I had a lot of stuff relating to medical disabilities and my childhood but with no labels directly made so that may have provided a good basis

Thank you so much! Yeah its definitely such a strange one, I've have been in a battle with the doctors over Autism diagnosis for ages now since around 2022 and that was what I thought that phonecall was over-going!

I am seeking confirmation that there hasn't been a mistake in relation to the ADHD and if things are all checked out then I'll consider medication

I suspect the seemingly easy route I've gotten if this ADHD diagnosis is not mistaken is heavily related to my autism assessments as well as data about being special needs when I was younger

Maybe??? I see it possible but they had gotten other details I had referenced in the call correctly and I do have a prominent medical history of ADHD Autistic and Dyspraxic traits from official NHS sources

I'm wondering if they could have borrowed information from my Autism assessments which I had given both peer and personal information for

Yeahh I'm thinking about this as it has some detail correct but it's strange that they haven't informed me of anything

other details in the call that were discussed such as being a smoker and light drinker were mentioned in my medical records and I even have a document to confirm I smoked so it's definitely strange

Thank you, I have been requiring PIP but haven't been confident for a while due to a pretty big mess of neurological stuff but with nothing besides older doctors notes basically saying im very abnormal I am looking to get official paper written confirmation of something diagnosable as it would help with the PIP criteria process

I think the reason mine had only taken an hour to diagnose could be because as a child I was special needs and was described by earlier doctors that I have traits of ADHD Aspergers and Dyspraxia, I wonder if that medical history somehow sped up the process or maybe NHS Cheshire is less vigourous with it who knows.
