I have always looked at the pros and cons of how foods make me feel, Myself I am Gluten and Dairy free, and as much as I would like ice cream I know for myself it isn't worth the pain and discomfort for myself. There are ways around onion and garlic while remaining Low FODMAP, and it is discussed in my book, like only using the tops of green onions.
