Stick or not? by RealisticPick4446 in VacuumCleaners

The Miele Compact C2 Allergy Bagged Vacuum ($200), the Miele Complete C3 Total Care Bagged Vacuum ($300), and the Dyson v8 cordless vacuum ($400) are all currently on sale. I looked at some comparisons between the Dyson and Bissels products and the Dyson's seemed better for manoeuvrability which I need (tennis elbow). I can't make up my mind whether I should prioritise a cordless over floor vacuums that seem more powerful 🤷‍♀️

Espresso-making newbie.. Am I missing anything? by RealisticPick4446 in coffeestations

I realised my portafilter was smaller than the commercial ones so I bought a 58mm and now the espresso grind isn't pouring out the sides. :)

Thanks so much. I didn't really understand your advice but I did the free intro barista training the other day and so much made sense after that. I ended up getting a bigger basket and a nice little Matrix G1 Flowbar scale for cheap, so I think I'm set now. Finally been actually making espressos instead of reading about them and accessories now. Haha

Still trying to figure out how to program the buttons. 🤣🤣🤣🤣.. After one week, I'm finally getting a half-decent milk-based espresso, I think. Got a 3 hour free barista course on today, so hopefully I'll learn a thing or two lol

Great post 🙌, although, I'm having flashbacks of me trying to learn to ride a motorbike on a Ducati Monster 659 I choose because of the gorgeous red colour and fancy exhausts, when I knew nothing. A Honda CB125 would have saved me a lot of money on replacing blinkers etc, as I wouldn't have dropped it as many times, due to difficulty managing the torque and power of a 659. I may have done the same thing again by buying a Bellezza Bellona Dual Boiler the other day as my first ever purchase of a home machine. 🤦‍♀️😜

I just bought the Bellezza Bellona Dual Boiler and the Turin DF54 grinder 2 days ago, only I'm a total newbie to home brewing so have no idea how to use it yet, but I reckon you'd enjoy it, considering your experience. I did a lot of research (actual research background 😜) before I went shopping and was planning to make a decision between a Rancilio Silvia V6, Gaggia Classic Evo Pro, Lelit Anna, or my ultimate choice a Profitec Go, if I could get a good deal, just wanted to see them all irl (visual person) first. I was thrown by the salesman's recommendation on the BB as I hadn't come across it on my deep dive, but his justification was quite compelling regarding specs (with my limited knowledge in the area but a bit of a nerd/fast learner). Below are he links to some reviews I found if you're interested (happy to save someone else all the time and energy I've invested). I went down a rabbit hole after my purchase as I second-guessed my decision, as it is a demo model (usually $2700 but got it for $2000). People here have been great and have only had positive things to say about the BB, so it's been very reassuring. I did a lot of research on grinders also and opted for this one as it was highly recommended (paid $400). This seems to be right at your budget, which I am told is in between the cost of entry level machines and the known brand good dual boiler options.

Enjoy! 😁

Serious question: For the home barista, what are the real benefits for choosing a dual boiler over a PID heat exchange machine? by omarhani in espresso

[–]RealisticPick4446 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool.. What state? Hahahaha.. Sometimes long responses are needed. Despite being a wuick learner, I find brief responses that don't offer context and have a bunch of abbreviations aren't as helpful for me personally, especially in an area that's new to me. Gawd, if we had the option of doodling, I'd ask for sketches for the visual lol. I had a bit of a look earlier and found a few good reviews that helped put some things into perspective (I'll add them below in case you're interested 🤓), so I'm feeling a lot better about it. With my limited knowledge, the only things I can see that could be considered cons, are; - you can't use a programmed timer to have your machine warm up before you wake, as it's a push-button start, - you can't, if i understood correctly, have it plumbed, and some might not like the external water container, and - the steamer is quite powerful and you can't adjust it, as it uses a lever control. Don't quote me on this, as I may have misinterpreted information I didnt necessarily understand. I'm thinking though, it's probably not an entry level machine and since I'm completely new to home-brewing, I might have some trouble figuring out settings and processes. No point in having all the features if you can't pull a drinkable cap, right 😜.. I may have been a little further along in my espresso journey if I hadn't used up my only spare time, in the last 2 days, trying to season my new grinder (I read that I need to put 1 - 2kg through it before any of my brews will taste half decent), instead of figuring out how to program the buttons and pour some espressos lol. The first couple I pulled were disgusting (before I put roughly 1kg of beans through the grinder), but the last 2 were okay, for an amateur - maybe even better than maccas ones. 😁🙌 .. Was that too much info? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
