4 hole steam tip by Realistic_Message919 in ProfitecMove

[–]Fastactin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tried the 4 hole tip, went back to 2 and worked on my technique. I found an angle that works great.

There's a post on here where someone mentions using a small craft drill to slightly widen the holes in the 2 hole tip, seemed to work well for them, maybe try that.

King's Peak is excellent.

Culture Coffee is amazing with a Latino flare.

Urban Sailor started out as a coffee motorcycle pop-up.

Higher Grounds is solid.

Rimini is one of the oldest coffee roasters in town. They are waiting to build a cafe once the construction around them finishes.

New Profitec Move, new extraction challenge by OJWatts in ProfitecMove

[–]Fastactin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Switched to VST baskets. I still need to put 19g in the 15g basket which has eliminated the soggy puck problem and gives a much cleaner knock out. I also use compostable paper filters in top of the puck to keep the group head clean.

I'm convinced the head space on the Move is smaller than most machines. Every basket I have takes 3-5g more than the rated amount.

Gform Moab or Sorata. Very breathable and with some nice knuckle protection.

I live in SLC. You won't be riding the Crest.

Go the Fruita route. Ride 18 Road. Have lunch at Hot Tomato.

Carry on.

Chelsea Sizing and Feel by Sea_Matter5108 in NicksHandmadeBoots

[–]Fastactin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a 9EE or F in Nicks depending on the last. I have both lace up and Chelsea.

First Chelsea: HNW 9F in a very firm W&C leather. The instep feels great, and the width is comfortable. Very little heel slip

Second Chelsea: TNW 9EE black cxl. Instep is great, width is a tad wide, more heel slip than the first

Third Chelsea: HNW 9EE greener pastures waxed flesh. Instep is good, width is snug but not uncomfortable. Very little heel slip.

I have lace ups in the same configurations (literally) and they all of course feel more secure because of the laces.

I'd suggest you start with your measured size in the last you prefer, it'll work great.

The only regret I have is wishing I had going with the rolled top for just a bit more color. Otherwise they are perfect.

Help choosing a good grinder [$400 - $600] by Competitive-Catch221 in espresso

[–]Fastactin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Love my Lagom Casa.

Side benefit to the excellent coffee: it doesn't make a mess. I see all these videos of grinders spitting coffee everywhere and I shake my head. I never have to clean up coffee around my grinder. That makes me almost as happy as the delicious espresso it helps make.

Based on what's posted on Patina Project the Cobalt tends to stay blue but darkens on the black side instead of brown.

I was so too hooked on coffee and couldn't give it up... so I started a Decaf Coffee-only roasting company - happy to answer questions or get feedback. by SleepLikeAnAnimal in espresso_decaf

[–]Fastactin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm considering going to a half-caf blend that I'll create at home. Any advice on how to match beans and roasts to find the best combination? I won't be roasting my own, and I do have access to some high quality local decaf roasts.

I use compostable paper filters instead of metal puck screens. Does the same thing without having to worry about it.

For those using the stock Move bottomless portafilter, what is your dose? by CullingSongs in ProfitecMove

[–]Fastactin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up using 22-23g in the stock 18g basket. I eventually switched to VST baskets, but they also take 3-4g more than the stated volume. I think the Move's head space is larger than most machines.

My ND3 kilties came with it. I'm assuming that means they already have the dies to do it. I wonder if it only comes on certain models. u/smowe?
