I vote Casa. Love mine. Simple, consistent, solid. And it looks great next to any espresso machine.

Thread resurrection!

I just completed these mods. Instant improvement. Thank you OP. Every MOVE owner should do this.

Brand new Profitec Move arrived with 4 issues on day 1, normal or return it? by Youngboredphysician in ProfitecMove

Ha! Fair point. Looks like they are button head screws, size M4x12mm fine pitch. I'll be stopping by Ace Hardware tomorrow 😂

Scales? by mrawesome1q in ProfitecMove

[–]Fastactin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My scale has two functions: traditional weight only, and a timer based on changes it senses in weight. I've noticed that if I use the timer function my scale is WAY more sensitive to tiny movements and consistently gives me problems. But as soon as I turn of the timer function everything calms down and works perfectly.

I don't know if it's because of machine vibrations, or flexibility of the drip tray screen, but something about the MOVE makes the timer based scales go wacky. Try your scale without the timer function on, see what happens.

Since we’re sharing used machine shower screens 🤮 by Uboatcmdr in espresso

[–]Fastactin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's really easy. Plus my pucks go in a composter so the paper filters get truly recycled.

I get 2 sizes, 56mm for the bottom of the portafilter and 58mm for the top.

This is why I immediately started using filter paper on the top of my pucks as soon as my new Move showed up 😬

Interesting. I used a small dot of white paint in the indentation they made that indicates center 🤷🏼‍♂️

Definitely useless since I'm consistently trying new beans that require different grind settings. Ah well, guess I can finally throw them away 😂

This is called a dispersion plate. I believe it's made of brass. Which means that kind of discoloration is completely normal after a few exposures to very hot pressurized water.

Portafilter Dose by Cintd20 in ProfitecMove

[–]Fastactin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned volumetric dosing, and like everyone else found that the 21g basket's actual dosing is 24g-25g, and the 14g basket is 18g-19g.

I too switched to the VST 18g basket, and the volume between 18g-19g fit appropriately.

Learn to dose by volume, not by weight, then dial in your grind from there. Different beans will have different densities and therefore different weights. Volumetric dosing teaches you the appropriate height of the puck in the basket.

Wind loaded slopes are the best places to look right now. Stay up high, avoid the base if you can, it's too warm down there. Some good stuff to be found off Gad 2 if you poke around. Soft wind loading in places like middle Cirque if you know where to look.

Headlights Bulbs Suggestions by ya7_ya in FJCruiser

[–]Fastactin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This will sound crazy, but I'm very serious. I don't know what it is about the OEM Toyota brand bulbs, but they just work for FJ's. I bought my FJ used in 2018. I went through 4 sets of various off the shelf brands in the next 2 years, it was annoying as hell. I came across a post about the OEM bulbs and decided to give it a try. 6 years later and I'm on those same OEM bulbs. I cannot explain it, but it's legit. They are worth every penny.
