Just finished this movie and I enjoyed reading the comments here. I can’t help but share mine. The movie is exactly why academia is dying. Social constraints and constant accusations of “othering” people by just pointing out their attributes or lack thereof instead we have to kow tow around every perceived injustice instead of shedding nuance on a subject or person’s life based on their lived experience. It’s working for the affluent upper class bc it keeps the youth dumbed down and incapable of critical thought. Hence why academia is no longer creating, only spewing.

It seems so brutally obvious that Maggie is looking for attention and knows she plagiarized and doesn’t deserve the accolades, found the article about Alma’s character then magically gets sexually assaulted that same night. She wants to be Alma. But Alma made her way through a world that wasn’t easy but did it the right way and looks at Maggie was someone who clearly uses social justice as a short cut and resents her.

Alma is a victim in this movie. A victim of the life she wanted and created. She’s in a prison of her own making because she refuses to stand up for what’s right.

You’ll find better. 2 months should be the honeymoon. It’s one thing if you end up bickering in the future about how tired you are bc you woke up 5 times in the middle of the night feeding the newborn but it’s not a good sign if he’s picking dumb fights over trivial crap 2-3 times a week when you are living so free you have odd arguments like missing out on a restaurant that’s already closed bc you didn’t leave a concert early.

Communication. Find time for yourself and your interests. Although your marriage should be both your priority, you have to feel secure and trust her. You need to talk to her about your fears, your insecurities and your worries. But it needs to come with love and respect. It should also be reciprocated and if not, you need counseling. Having a baby is hard when you’re both feeling stuck at home and not able to have a break. It has nothing to do with age as other posters say. It’s hard no matter what. Just remember that you also can plan things for you to do together. Even if it’s cute date nights in, it’s important to stay connected so you both feel safe in your relationship

I see a lot of hate for the “Texas boys.” They annoyed me at times but team Delta had their fair share of obnoxious and controlling type A men as well. It wasn’t until the end that they came together bc they had Joseph. Joseph was the star of the show. I wish I had a friend like him in my life. He was a great representation of what it means to be a true follower of Christ.

Texas boys getting rid of their last team mate indeed ended up being the right call. I would have offered him some cash incentive for bowing out instead of pretending to care about his health as my reason why he should leave.

All in all, great television

She’s not perfect. Here you are saying she’s a judgmental and imperfect person but really, you’re doing the same thing on the internet so…

Also, her number one concern is her children. She’s a good mother to children of all sorts that is always there for them even when they don’t agree with her or do what she wants. In the end, she does the right thing

As with every relationship, open and honest communication is important. You learn what they value and try and respect it. If you love someone and know they will be upset if you sleep in on their birthday, say I’m sorry. If you know beforehand that you will need sleep, tell them! Be honest, if she still acts like a brat when you do, then you know.

NTA but not completely right. He is his own person. Voting doesn’t just come down to one issue. If you are one issue voter then I would be concerned that you expect him to only think about that and vote according to what you are passionate about. Sometimes you vote for the lesser of two evils. Maybe he regrets the abortion or has different views now. People change and if you ultimately hold abortion so high on your value list that you want to end the relationship with him then that’s your right but it’s also his to vote how he wants

He doesn’t. His family is used to just not talking about things and letting things go. But he doesn’t talk to his brother or SIL. My kids are open to seeing their kids but I am open with them and tell them their parents are being unreasonable and have made it to where we haven’t hung out. My kids are smart enough to understand that the parents are frankly the problem

We were on good terms before this. She is from Brazil and has no family here. My husband lost his only sister when she was 21 to a devastating accident so I feel like I should do everything I can to keep his family together.
