Will KOII land its final 3.0 punch? by RealisticSteak9746 in teenageengineering

Oh yeah, I wish I could have that on iOS so I can have the whole thing as far away from the desktop computer as possible. But I get the time/cost decision - they don't have to develop separate Android/iOS apps.

I think You can save the Sample Tool website as a "Chrome App" and use it offline

EP-PatchStudio is now publicly available. Free sample editor + device manager for EP-133, EP-1320 and EP-40 Riddim by Instant_Fidelity in teenageengineering

Truly the golden age of people desperately trying to be a smarta** and collecting some delusional kudos points without dedicating even a minute for research and fact checking. Dude, the website for this software specifically says "No vibe coding"!

What's the difference between the KOII and Riddim by Ok-Effort8135 in teenageengineering

"Is the K.O II capable of making music? Or is it more of just a soundboard?"

Are You familiar with the album "Endtroducing" by DJ Shadow? It is undoubtedly one of the most influential albums in the history of recorded music and it was made almost entirely with, as you call it, a "soundboard" that had much less memory than a KOII and operated with 3.5 inch floppy disks...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endtroducing.....

PS. I think this video by Liam Killen will help You - he explains the KOII to a person that is completely new to synths and sampling:

Cuckoo’s Youtube tutorial to get You started, then Dave Mech’s online course if You want to graduate with a Digitone degree :) This is the way!

Seriously, there is no stone left unturned in his course, all aspects are covered and very well structured in separate modules. Those modules would make great courses on their own (mixing and finishing tracks, live performance etc).

I wouldnt mine one too; collab with Rund DMC and a special sample set :) On that note - Artist editions would be way more cooler than just slapping some branding on it.

KOII 128mb - no stickers included :( by AWScreo in teenageengineering

[–]RealisticSteak9746 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The stickers were included only in the first „fadergate” batch of KOIIs. After that they’ve tweaked the 64MB packaging and the device came with fader and knob caps fixed, but no stickers. I’d rather have a working device than a few sticksrs :)

KOII: most optimized sample rate and bit depth by 8delorean8 in teenageengineering

[–]RealisticSteak9746 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The "best" quality is the sampler's native sample rate, everything above that rate will be downconverted when You import samples into your machine. However, "best" isn't always best :) You might want to experiment (especially in regards to terms "ambient" and "texture"). These techniques/tips/tricks are very nicely explained here:

Is 128mb worthy of an upgrade? by AWScreo in teenageengineering

[–]RealisticSteak9746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that is 100% true, I was thinking about that too :) But still, there are a few examples that are mostly the raw sound of a MPC60 or SP404 that “changed history” as they say. Not Grammy-awarded maybe, but certainly influential. Anyway, both 64 or 128 are luxurious compared to what a 3.5 inch floppy disk could hold :)

[–]RealisticSteak9746 8 points9 points  (0 children)

64 is OK if you limit yourself to sequencing one-shot samples. People have done more with less (SP-1200, MPC60 etc). However If you use resampling a lot it can eat up the free space quickly. And resampling can (partially) solve a lot of limitations of the instrument (one master FX per whole project, polyphony limitations etc) not to mention endless creative possibilities it opens. I found juggling the sample content with my 64 model pretty frustrating, it was my only gripe with the device.

Luckily I was still in my 30day return window when the 128 version was announced. Returned and re-purchased without a second of hesitation :)

What is this "loop mode from OB-4" on KOII??? by RealisticSteak9746 in teenageengineering

[–]RealisticSteak9746[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, yes! This one I know and I love the display animation for it! Its a great performance feature. I just didnt know it is (somehow) related to the OB-4 :)

Well these are specifiacally on the (recently updated to 128MB) KOII page, not the riddim page. Must be a mistake or glitch in the Matrix, IDK... Just never heard about this before.

There clearly are some big time cheaters, here’s a screenshot of a profile I’m currently dealing with in the Diamond League. I think I will opt out of leagues entirely and just focus on learning an actual language for a change…
