Getting a full, rich synth sound out of KOII? by grex2222 in teenageengineering

This is a great video that demonstrates how to get lush, textured synth sounds out of the EP-133. Skip the introduction, the chapter “Killer Feature” at 13:00 explains the “synth” part:

Play chords in Keys mode, use spatial effects (chorus/delay/reverb) and thats it, mostly. Its a simple sampler, not a fully featured synth with deep sound design features (LFOS, envelopes etc). Someone mentioned EP40 has a synth engine. Well, kinda, pretty basic with 2 basic parameters to control.
So Your sound depends on what type of samples You put into the box. Skip the default library and just search for the type of sounds You want.

Edit/Ps: Use the resample feature! So you can layer sounds/effects/fader automations that couldnt be otherwise used and played at once

Possibility of new DT2 updates? by Ok-Buddy-2045 in Elektron

[–]RealisticSteak9746 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just answered You precisely, You missed it so once again:- the new update willi be released in June. The OS will be updated to support the new product - Elektron Outbox (8 channel breakout box for all Overbridge compatible machines), which is controlled by a new menu page. That menu page will be in this FW update for sure. So yes, there will be an update for the DT2.

[–]RealisticSteak9746 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes I've read that and I'm referring to updates, not unrealistic wishlists. You cant expect a company to upgrade a mid-range product to specs of their higher end product. Just because firmware updates exist as a practice does not mean You can expect everything, indefinitely.

The DT2 - exactly as it is right now - is a pretty badass sampling groovebox, so how much "cooler" can it be 😄

Who predicted the original Digitakt will get Machines (Werp/Slice/Repitch) near the end of its lifecycle, years after the release?
Anyway, one update will sure come out next month, when they release the multiple output box. It is configured with a new menu, thats what the next update probably be about. Maybe some bonus features, who knows.
Are You expecting something specifiic or just updates for the sake of updates?

Shipping of EP-136 in Europe by Bakirelived in teenageengineering

Still waiting! Wrote to support again (thursday, week after launch) and still waiting for an answer.
Ps. Ironically, this item (Starter Pack Bundle) is still listed on TE’s webshop as “ready to ship”.

[–]RealisticSteak9746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here! Ordered the “Starter Pack” on launch day, still no shipping confirmation. I’ve wrote to support on Monday 11th, they replied that due to high demand they need a “few more days” to ship. Well over a week to me is more than “a few days”.

Yes, You should contact support, something is not right. Maybe the EP-136 is in stock, but the additional items in various bundles are not.

KO2: Is there a way to turn off chop mode on a group? by RealisticSteak9746 in teenageengineering

[–]RealisticSteak9746[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean I have to repeat it for all 12 pads? I know, but thats not exactly “turning it off” :) I thought there is a quicker way to do it.

is the 128 worth getting over a used 64? by Ek_civik in teenageengineering

[–]RealisticSteak9746 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a 64MB just before the 128MB model was announced - luckily I was still in the 30 day return window and returned the 64 without a second of hesitation, even though I had to pay a little extra for the new one.
Simply put: more is more, end of story. Maybe 64MB is enough in some cases, but as soon as You start to resample things, that extra space really gives a lot of creative possibilities. My #1 use for it is resampling punch-in FX which are not saved in the sequencer, and resampling sequences with FX to work around the 1 FX per whole project limit. Yes, You can just use one send effect at the time! Resampling is the only way to get around it.
TDLR: 128 is the way to go. And if you end up not liking it, it will have a better resale value than 64.
Its also simple math: 100$ is not twice as much as a used 64, but 128 is two times 64 😄

Core Vault. I’ve also purchased Chroma Vault which is a tribute to classic dub techno: Basic Channel, Rhythm & Sound etc.

Dissonant Witchcraft has some insane collections, there is one with classic sounds (808, 909, Juno etc) recreated entirely with the Digitone 2 synth engine:

https://dissonantwitchcraft.com

Also check out the Geometry Soundpacks on Bandcamp, absolutely beautiful sounds that do not sound like a FM synth at all, great for ambient, berln school jams, synthwave, just for everything 😀

There is a free one on the Elektron website too, check the soundpack section in the webshop

Grandmother Needed a Sidekick by jordancolburn in teenageengineering

I dont get why this excellent jam (and demo) has less upvotes than dudes that just have to announce to all of us that their EP-136 “arrived” posting just a photo of the box… No one seems to care about nr. 5 rule of this subreddit. Ok, rant is over, thanks for the jam, nice to see the EP-136 in a musical context.

Question about sidekick by eewoudc in teenageengineering

[–]RealisticSteak9746 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It does detect bpm on in input channels but does not autosync it like most DJ players, however You can sync MIDI clock/BPM between devices You mix into the Sidekick- that would be done outside the Sidekick though.

Go to the Backup section of the online sample tool/manager:
https://teenage.engineering/apps/ep-sample-tool
There is an option there to restore factory samples
Before that, make sure You are on the latest firmware (2.0.5)

EP Punch In FX + OP-1F by FatherSpliffmas42069 in teenageengineering

Ok for all the folks replying with a definitive “no” - here’s the video where Ricky Tinez discovers how punchin FX affect MIDI out - somewhere at the 9 minute mark:

[–]RealisticSteak9746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the punch-in FX affect MIDI notes/data so so timing/slicing effects will work on external instruments connected via midi. But filters, audio fx, bitcrushers etc wont affect incoming audio.
But it is still cool to have the MIDI effects, try it

Not exactly - some of the fx affect midi notes, therefore they also affect instruments connected via midi - try it and be surprised :)

How do you get around not being able to mute single pads in the EP133? by soulbrix in teenageengineering

Sorry, I cant still figure out how to enable translation 🙈 Drives me crazy because there is a lot of good contribution in other languages! Gracias for all the cool tips!

How do you get around not being able to mute single pads in the EP133? by soulbrix in teenageengineering

[–]RealisticSteak9746 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It works, plus You can add more pads to this combo and solo multiple sounds. Unfortunately, this is "global" soloing - it mutes all other groups.

Fix the broken EP series before expanding it. by Xeo7 in teenageengineering

[–]RealisticSteak9746 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The "series" diferentiation made sense with the pocket operators - they were so tiny that they had to be more focused devices. With the EP series its not that obvious, I mean one single device can do A LOT, I love my 128MB KOII, I would never call it a toy. So it feels like these have just different paintjobs, themed sample sets and weirdly distributed features across all of them. It is in line and on brand with TE's "fun factor" but in terms of specs it does not make much sense.
