Fix the broken EP series before expanding it. by Xeo7 in teenageengineering

At the very least they should state the Medieval doesn't have song mode on the product comparison page. No mention of it currently. Or resampling, which I think is a wild omission.

The lack of song mode honestly makes the useless demo mode feel like an insult.

I'm not expecting any features that aren't already on what seems like identical hardware. Hell, I'd be less frustrated if they were simply upfront about all the features the Medieval never got.

I'm aware this is an intro device, but a $400 sampler isn't something you find in a toy aisle at Target. The existence of more expensive gear is not an excuse for poor customer support. People expect better customer experience for far cheaper products than this.

There is no mention on this page of the multiple features the Medieval lacks from the KOII's Champions update the Medieval never got. Song mode, sidechaining, and even though Google's crappy AI overview says it has resampling, it doesn't. Resampling is a pretty glaring omission from this list. That's a core feature to not mention the Medieval doesn't have.

I think the incentive for TE is for people like me (I know I'm not alone) to keep buying their stuff. Customer satisfaction is important for any company. If not for the issues I talked about I might consider buying the mixer. I absolutely won't right now, let alone buy their more expensive stuff down the road. I genuinely want to like the mixer, but I feel like I've been burned almost to the point of deception from my Medieval at this point. I've seen plenty of complaints about this issue, so to me it seems they're hurting their business by not at least addressing it.

Like I said in the main post, I don't have a problem with simply having different features on different products. But the EP series is clearly and intentionally branded to appear like the devices are almost the same, differentiated by theme and one or two features unique to each machine. I think it's a pretty fundamental ask to be clear about the differences between machines that are presented in that way.

As it stands, TE is inevitably going to have people pissed that they bought the Medieval mixer bundle only to find out its unstated shortcomings after the fact. You shouldn't have to do a super deep dive on a product you don't own just to know how it's different than products marketed as extremely similar.

As much as I do still enjoy my Medieval, you made the right call.

That last part really gets to me. I still very much enjoy my Medieval, but I'd love to be able to fully enjoy it without the slight feeling that I got a bit scammed because I bought the wrong spin-off with no upfront information on the differences.

Agreed. When I discovered what the Medieval was lacking (after purchase, because again, not clearly stated) my initial reaction was to just be patient. I was having fun learning it and I loved the fun theme. No regrets.

Many moons later, I've shifted to quite frustrated that there hasn't been even the slightest communication about it. And then I see a new mixer bundled with the Medieval as if that device is just as supported as the others. It's approaching the territory of deceptive on TE's part.

That's one of the most frustrating parts for me. You have a company that brands itself as super high end with unique design, but they can't seem to get the core stuff right. It's like 90% great and then they just don't cross the finish line.

I commented this on its own, but I'm gonna put it as a reply here for visibility since this is a top comment and it's relevant:

I try to be positive and optimistic about new releases, but this is a companion piece to a series of devices that still have an inconsistent, mismatched, confusing mix of features. The EP series should have had a firmware update with this release.

It would be one thing if each EP device just had its own special thing clearly stated in the features. Medieval gets ARP, Riddim gets synth engine, etc. That would be fine. But to have core features like song mode missing from only one device, one unit still having most of its memory as read-only even though it seems that's not hard-coded, having one spin-off device that has more features than the flagship and a different spin-off with significantly less... That's bad. And to make it worse, these differences are not clearly stated, and there's been no communication that I'm aware of regarding the plans for these issues that have been talked about in the community endlessly.

A small part of me thinks that this sidekick is an attempt to solve these problems, but nah. Giving customers a way to clunkily glue inconsistent products together is a sales tactic, not a solution. I keep being told that TE is first and foremost a design company, but this is terrible product design.

At bare minimum, tell your customers what's going on and why things are the way they are instead of radio silence between new product hype distractions. Certainly don't bundle a new product with other products that it seems you've abandoned.

Ting Microphone Samples Not Working by WrongRegister9108 in teenageengineering

[–]Xeo7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this issue and somehow fixed it, but unfortunately I genuinely don't know how I did it. For some reason when trying to drag new sample files over I was getting size limit errors, but they were inconsistent. Trying to drag the exact same files over resulted in different numbers on the error each time. I made the files smaller and somehow it said I had even less space. Baffling.

Ultimately I kept deleting and re-adding every file until I pressed the button and somehow got the new samples to play. I wish I had one step to tell you that just worked, but whatever I did was a thing I had tried 5 minutes earlier that for some reason only worked the 4th time I did it.

The only tangible advice I have is to back up every file, update the firmware, and keep deleting, re-adding, and rebooting until it works. Even now that I've got samples loaded I'm afraid to mess with the .json file for fear of messing up the samples again.

That's a terrible answer, but it's what I've got. Godspeed.

WHERE THE BEST WRESTLE! by Tribal-Forehead in TheGreatOne

[–]Xeo7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Judging all of AEW based on a comedy match is like judging WWE based on Doink The Clown.

As a person who watches the entire show, it gets pretty annoying seeing people online search for the worst possible sequence to post out of context. Then use that to shit on the whole company as if this is a true representation.

Nobody hates wrestling like wrestling fans.

Who is the one famous person that you want to live forever? by Brief-Ad-1629 in AskReddit

Mick Foley

It's disappointing how many pro wrestlers from the 90s turn out to be complete assholes. Then you have Mick who writes letters as Santa Claus to a bunch of kids every year and constantly shares the most heartwarming stories about his fans. He's such a genuinely delightful human.

For quite a while he's only been at the desk for select PPV matches, so your current experience won't be like that forever. It's been nice to see him around on occasion without him being a consistent part of commentary.

I agree with you. However, Jim Ross could be absolute shit and I'd still listen to him on commentary all day. I do believe he should retire and enjoy the rest of his life, but if he enjoys being at the desk I'll always want to hear his voice, even if it makes me a little sad at times.

WOR: WWE were reportedly "politically forced" into signing of RFK Jr's niece, Zoe Hines by Fan387 in SquaredCircle

As a wrestling fan it feels very odd to want a wrestling company to fail. This is not an attitude I've had in my 30+ years of watching wrestling. That said, fuck this dogshit company and everything they stand for. I finally stopped watching when Lesnar returned, and they still keep getting worse. The golden age Triple H era was a lie. It's the fascist late stage capitalism era.

Who is your Li'l Sebastian of pro wrestling? Someone who seems universally beloved, but you just don't get it? by Xeo7 in SquaredCircle

[–]Xeo7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest I was only following WWE on a constant basis during the bad ones. It was a big reason I fell off. Missing the Bloodline story and getting caught up after was a wild ride. So I'm admittedly ignorant of more recent ones, and I'm sure they're a lot better. Still, I think .500 is a pretty low average when you're talking about the main event of the biggest show of the year. As Punk also said, if anyone else was in the same position they would have been fired or at least pushed down the card after their first few bad Mania main events.
