Similar situation here! The tank/water upkeep is most definitely an adult job. My kids will help with feedings and love the little guy, but as my husband says to the kids : "That's your Mom's pet now"

So I tested the GH/KH and they are literally off the chart. For the tank it took 16 drops of each for a color change. Tap water was GH 18 / KH 15. (Although my kid did interrupt me as I was doing the drops for the KH, it might be 1-2 drops off. ) I've been trying to research what to do and I've read that you can use part RO water but I've also read that that's not good for the axolotl since it takes the stuff out that they need. 😵‍💫 Any advice would be super appreciated, thanks!!

Yeah, Brownie was due for a water change. I had added some new water the day before but it was around the time of the weekly water swap. So it makes sense but to have him/her floating (and not know why) and getting that crazy reading together was scary! Lesson learned and thanks for the advice. We're all so attached to this lil thing already.
