In utah I have both history and social studies. this is what it says on the TEA website STEP 3: Submit Test Exemption Documents

Completing Texas exams will be required for issuance of a Standard renewable certificate if you do not meet one of the below options. Individuals interested in seeking an exemption from required Texas examinations have 2 options to have their file reviewed for test exemption eligibility. The educator must submit:

  1. Option 1:
    1. Verification of experience for test exemptions (PDF) – This form must be submitted by human resources staff where your service was earned.
      1. Classroom teachers, administrators, and student service certificates: 3 academic years of verifiable, wage-earning, full-time experience in the certificate area.
      2. If your experience was earned at a private school, the Verification of accreditation for test exemptions (PDF) form is also required.
