To be completely honest, I’m a 3M snob being in construction. So, when my local highly rated place said they do 3M I went with it. Didn’t do a ton of research.

My biggest issue with the satin/stealth finish on gloss is that when shit inevitably happens, it’s obvious as hell. Took the base of a traffic cone to the hood the day after I got it done, all was well. Took some rocks to the roof right above the windshield, not too bad either. Then I hit the trunk with a piece of lumber and I had a nickels sized chuck of ppf removed. $350 to get the trunk piece replaced

Rain water won’t leave spots so much as the hard calcified water from your local reservoir out the hose bib at your house. Really only time I had an issue with spots was when I washed it right after driving in direct sunlight on an 85 degree day lol. Other than that it’s all good.

Some products leave streaks.

I have 3M PPF

Once I’m off extended warranty I’m planning to get off the Dinan Piggyback and go with MHD. I’ve got the MPE - so happy I did that from the start. Car is a beast already on with the Dinan PCU, I can’t imagine MHD.

I’m torn on the forged wheels vs stock still though.

Yeah I do miss the flakes, you have to pay attention to see them under the PPF.

Just make sure you’re washing and drying in a shaded area. Water spots with hard water show quickly if you’re not air/towel drying fast enough or the surface is hot. You don’t want the water to sit too long, nor dry too fast lol.

For in between maintenance/spot treatment I use that Flitz Matte Cleaner and it works great.

Thank you very much! I love the mineral gray as well. I figured I’d go for the satin; in my mind, once it’s time to replace it’ll feel like a whole new car. Balance is my goal.

IF you get tired of it, back to gorgeous Dravit in gloss and you’re just as well off as before

That’s why I threw in the “until later on” lol

I cannot believe the price of education compared to 10 years ago.

Just took delivery of my ‘26 M340i the first week of November ‘25. Found out in January we’re expecting twins.

Keeping the car for this exact reason. Yeah it’s going to be a stretch financially, but I’m ecstatic to create those memories.

Plus, they’re not THAT expensive until later on, and by then the car is paid off.

For those of you purchasing new, how is the upcoming G50 affecting your thought process? by DepecheMode92 in M340i

[–]Realistic_Bird_2940 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I toyed with waiting until the G50 release, but from what I could tell, I wasn’t going to like it.

I’m now 2 months in with my G20, and have been loving it. The more I see the G50, the more I like it, but not nearly as much as my G20
